Both Teams Looking to Bounce Back
The Houston Astros have been playing excellent baseball lately. They were on their way to a third straight win before Aaron Judge hit a walk-off homer in the 10th inning of Sunday’s 6-3 loss to the New York Yankees.
Despite that loss, the Astros are still winners of eight out of their last 11 matchups entering Tuesday’s matchup at the New York Mets.
As for the Mets, their recent loss to the Miami Marlins saw a two-game winning streak snapped. They’ve been treading water of late and are just 3-4 in their last seven.
Let’s check the latest MLB picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for Astros vs Mets. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions.
Astros Surging
Despite the heartbreaking loss to the New York Yankees Houston Astros are still playing very well overall. They are comfortably in front in the American League West with a 10-game lead.
They’ll send Luis Garcia to the mound on Tuesday. He is 5-5 for the Astros with a 3.68 ERA. Garcia hasn’t started a game since he pitched against the Mets a week ago.
He was able to go five innings and strike out six to help Houston get the 5-3 win. He’s been roughed up at home, though, as he’s given up seven home runs in six starts.
And if you are wagering on the MLB betting odds, keep in mind that he’s had a tough time getting run support of late. The Astros have scored just 22 runs in his last seven starts.
Mets Seeking Revenge
It’s not easy losing back-to-back games against an opponent, and the Mets don’t want to make it three straight. Carlos Carrasco is going to be starting and the New York Mets have done well with him on the mound.
He’s held onto an 8-3 record with a 4.42 ERA. The team seems to perform better offensively when he gets out there. In his eight wins, New York has scored an average of 6.5 runs. Overall, they average 4.9 runs per game.
Taking a look at the home-away splits, Carrasco is flawless at home. He holds a 5-0 record with a strong 3.00 ERA at Citi Field. Those numbers dip to 3-3 and a 6.11 ERA on the road.
Carrasco will get home-field advantage for this game, so we could be seeing him at his peak here.
Astros vs Mets Head-to-Head
These two teams have only met up twice this season, with Houston winning both of them. The matchups came last week, so everything will still be fresh in everyone’s memories.

Astros vs Mets Prediction
These are two good teams with good starters and lineups, and both squads lead their division.
On one hand, Garcia has helped lead the team to a win over the Mets just a handful of days ago. However, Carrasco is flawless at home and the Mets are a very hard team to take out three straight times. This is going to be a close game throughout but the Mets should be the ones coming out victorious here. Take the Mets with your MLB picks.
