Astros Out for Revenge After Series Opener
The Houston Astros saw their three-game winning streak slip away following a 7-6 defeat at the hands of the New York Yankees on Thursday. It was just their second loss in their last eight games.
The Yankees are on absolute fire right now, winning 18 of 21. Each of these teams are incredibly talented and lead their division, so who is the best bet versus the MLB odds in this one?
Let’s check the latest MLB lines, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for Astros vs Yankees . We’ve plenty of MLB Spreads for you to consider.
Astros Sending Out Verlander
In order to avoid dropping two straight, the Astros are sending Justin Verlander to the mound. Verlander has long been one of the league’s best pitchers and he’s showing more of the same in 2022.
After making just one appearance in 2020 and 2021 combined, the 39-year-old is back and holding an 8-3 season record. It’s the second-best record in the league for a pitcher.
Verlander has the eighth-best ERA at 2.30 right now. However, his last start didn’t end up going too well against the Chicago White Sox.
He only lasted 3.2 innings of a 7-0 loss. If you bet online, note that Houston has not lost back-to-back Verlander starts this season. E
Also of note for the MLB betting odds: The Astros won eight of his last 10 outings.
Yankees Sizzling
Winning 18 out of your last 21 games is no easy feat, yet the Yankees have pulled it off. They aren’t planning on just stopping there, though. They have World Series aspirations and are pushing to rise to new heights.
Luis Severino is set to start on Friday. He has a 4-1 overall record and a 3.27 ERA in what been a strong season following a couple of years without much action.
He pitched in just three games during the regular season of 2019, didn’t hit the field at all during 2020 and made just four appearances In 2021.
Now, Severino is an important part of the pitching rotation and has shown that he can help lead the Yankees to wins. The challenge is he’s cooled off of late. He’s allowed four earned runs or more in two of his last four starts.
The team won each of Severino’s first seven starts but have since lost three of his last five.

Astros vs Yankees Prediction
Verlander has been stellar this season but so has Severino.
New York won Thursday’s series opener by scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth to seal it.
This is going to be a close game throughout but it’s hard to pick against a team that has lost just three of its last 21. For your MLB picks, though, go over the number. Both Verlander and Severino are coming off rocky starts.
