Trout joined Willie Mays and Alex Rodriguez as the only MLB players to have at least 1,000 runs, 300 home runs and 200 stolen bases by the time they were 30 in a season.
“It was a tough little stretch,” Trout said after Saturday’s win. “We were in a majority of the games and just missed out. It’s good to have a bounce-back when we had some guys step up.”
Trout was 0-for-3 on the night but is batting .310 to rank 14thl. Trout has 11 doubles, a triple, 11 home runs, 24 RBIs and 33 runs scored, which leads the American League.
Second baseman Luis Rengifo had a big night, hitting his first home run and driving in Trout on an infield hit with the bases loaded for his milestone run. Rengifo is batting .300 in 11 games, adding a double, a home run, two RBIs and four runs scored.
The Angels will have left-hander Patrick Sandoval on the mound. Sandoval is 2-1 with a 1.91 ERA in six starts, striking out 31 in 33 innings. He’s coming off a win over the Oakland Athletics on May 15, going 6⅓ innings and allowing one run on four hits while striking out four and walking four.
