Fans in Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, and San Diego have been counting the minutes since their teams last played on Sunday. Either they were part of a see-saw classic or a rivalry-boiling-over mess, both of which only served to make their respective Game 3s as intense – and important – as possible.

Three Best MLB Picks for Tuesday Night

1. King Me!

When we previewed this series late last week, we urged you to consider the Padres’ advantage with an in-tact starting rotation, compared to the Dodgers’ patchwork situation, in taking San Diego to win the series. Game 3 is another great example of this.

While Los Angeles turns to Walker Buehler, a major question mark after a rocky season on the heels of Tommy John surgery, San Diego gives the ball to Michael King. The 29-year-old has emerged as a star for the Padres and is anything but a question mark – he was electric in September and absolutely dominant against Atlanta in the wild card round.

King struck out 12 Braves in seven scoreless innings in Game 1 of that series in Petco Park. He was knocked around by the Dodgers way back in March and April before posting 12 innings without allowing an earned run over their final two meetings, yielding only five hits.

The righty posted a 2.37 ERA over his last 10 home starts, 2.11 over the last 11 if you include the playoff outing. See what you can find on our MLB player props page and consider some King-sized wagers.

Bet on Michael King Under 2.5 Earned Runs (-176)

2. Fernandomania (Sorry, Dodgers Fans…Different Fernando)

With guys like Mookie Betts and Aaron Judge continuing to struggle this postseason, there’s been plenty of talk around October highs and lows. The sample size for Fernando Tatis Jr. isn’t all that big, but it’s worth looking at how this guy handles himself in the playoffs.

Tatis is hitting .444 in 10 career playoff games, reaching safely in all of them and hitting safely in nine of them. He’s 9-for-14 (.643) with three homers – two in that six-homer barrage on Sunday at Dodger Stadium – in this year’s playoffs alone. Sure, there will be some correction eventually, but if you’re into riding out a trend until it dies down, then see what sort of MLB spreads you can get on Tatis today.

Oh, you should know that he hit .350 against the Dodgers during the regular season and owns a 1.034 career OPS against Buehler. He’s taken the LA righty deep four times in 29 career at-bats.

An MLB parlay of Tatis going deep and the Padres to win might be a sneaky good option here. We nailed Salvador Perez doing something special last night and have a similar feeling about Tatis. Hard not to these days.

Bet on Fernando Tatis Jr. to Have 2+ Hits and Padres to win (+303)

3. Ohtani Time

The biggest issue for King will be how to handle Shohei Ohtani. With Betts struggling and Freddie Freeman a question mark, King will be exceptionally careful with the Dodgers slugger and allow others to try to beat him.

Ohtani is 6-for-14 with three home runs and two doubles in his career against King. He also has a walk thrown in, all enough to compile a cartoonish 1.681 OPS. You can either bank on Ohtani doing some damage (he’s +250 to hit a home run) or consider the very real possibility that he’ll be put on by King, thus elevating the chance of a stolen base.

Ohtani had 59 of those this year, four in as many chances against the San Diego Padres. He’s getting odds at one, two, and three stolen bases on our props page. Take your pick, but a conservative option of one theft is not a bad way to go.

Bet on Shohei Ohtani to Have 1+ Stolen Base (+174)

Questions Of The Day

Any picks from the Phillies-Mets game worth jumping on?

It might seem too obvious or trendy to lean into Mark Vientos. The Mets third baseman is hitting .400 this postseason and had those two massive homers in Game 2 in Philly. But keep in mind that he was a much better hitter at home (.912 OPS) than on the road (.766) during the regular season. Vientos has only faced Aaron Nola three times but has one hit in that mix and we like him to do some damage at Citi Field.
