Our overall MLB picks record stands at 127-102 after another profitable day with our MLB picks on Friday. I’m eager to continue our success the rest of the way, and I’m sure you are too.

I have meticulously analyzed the options for MLB player prop bets today. Based on specific criteria, my thorough analysis ensures you have all the information you need for an exciting day of MLB action, making you feel well-informed and ready to make your bets.

2 Best MLB Player Props 8/5/24

1. Guardians SP Logan Allen 3+ Earned Runs (121)

We are headed to Progressive Field for our first MLB bet tonight. The Guardians will send 25-year-old left-hander Logan Allen to the mound. At first glance, you may think Allen is a tough cookie with an 8-4 record, but the underlying metrics tell a different story.

Allen will make his 19th start of the season tonight. I expect the Diamondbacks to produce against the left-hander, who has a 5.67 ERA, .291 OBA, and a 1.55 WHIP. Allen has been one of the luckiest pitchers this season. He ranks in the 4th percentile in xERA, 13th percentile in xBA, 5th percentile in Hard Hit %, and 5th percentile in Barrel %, and he doesn’t get many strikeouts. He’s due for an implosion!

The last time we faded Allen was his start against Baltimore, and they smacked him around. Allen has allowed three earned runs or more in 11 of 18 starts this season.

The Diamondbacks are heating up, winning 21 of their last 30 overall. The defending NL champs are heating up at the right time. Ketel Marte is having another terrific season, batting .302 this season, and has the third-highest wRC+ (199) in MLB against lefties with at least 100 at-bats behind only Aaron Judge (217 wRC+) and Jose Ramirez (208 wRC+)!

Arizona has the highest batting average against southpaws this season at .280 and has scored the most runs against lefties in MLB (189). Four of the last five starting lefties have allowed more than 2 earned runs against Arizona. Over the last month, the D-Backs have been in the top five in nearly every offensive category. Count on the Snakes to get the job done for us again.

2. Royals SS Bobby Witt Jr. 3+ Total Bases (+129)

With our next MLB betting pick tonight, I’m fading Red Sox starting pitcher James Paxton against the Royals. Kansas City returns home from a seven-day road trip and gets the luxury of facing a struggling veteran clinging to a starting job in MLB. We’re backing the hottest hitter in the league at home, where he has been incredible, hitting .405 this season across 58 games at Kauffman Stadium!

Bobby Witt Jr. has been on another planet over the last month. He would be running away with an AL MVP if it weren’t for Aaron Judge. Witt Jr. and the Royals will face the 35-year-old vet Paxton. The Big Maple has been inconsistent in 2024, ranking in the 18th percentile in xERA (4.83) and 29th percentile in xBA. He’s struggling to avoid hard contact and can’t put hitters away.

He made one start against the Royals last season, but he was obliterated, failing to make it out of the second inning! Witt Jr. went 1 for 1 with a homer in that game against Paxton. Bobby Witt Jr. is a breakout star in 2024. Every fan wishes they could have him on their team, and every GM wishes they could build their franchise around this guy. He hit .489 in July, the fifth-highest average in a month since 1930!

You can play this at 2 total bases and sip the juice if you prefer. He has reached this in 15 of his last 27 games (55.5%), but I’ll be snagging the plus-money with 3 total bases. Witt Jr. has accomplished this in 7 of 15 games since the break. As always, make sure to check the latest MLB news before placing your bets!
