Bet the Underdog Rangers Outright Against the Braves

The Atlanta Braves flexed their muscles with three home runs, including a grand slam, by Travis d’Arnaud and a solo home run by Michael Harris to pull away and win the series opener against reigning World Series champion Texas on Friday. The MLB latest lines list the host Braves to make it two wins in a row in a matchup of title contenders.

Texas had won six series in a row against the Braves before Atlanta went into Texas and took two of three games from the Rangers last season. The Rangers had won 10 of 13 games versus the Braves but Atlanta has won three of the last four matchups. Just one of the last 11 games between Atlanta and Texas went under the MLB against the spread picks.

Veterans are set to be the starting pitchers with 34-year Nathan Eovaldi making his fifth start while Atlanta counters with 40-year-old Charlie Morton.

The last time Eovaldi faced the Braves, he allowed five hits and three runs in seven innings in a 6-5 loss in 2023. Morton pitched 6⅔ scoreless innings in a 12-0 win over the Rangers in 2023. He looks to revert to that form after surrendering 12 hits, 10 runs, and two home runs in 11⅓ innings in his last two starts.

Atlanta is 5-2 outright as a home favorite with the Braves covering in just two of those games. The Rangers are 5-4 outright and against the spread as a road underdog.

Atlanta is priced at -145 to win the game outright while the Rangers are +130 in our MLB betting lines.

The Rangers and the Braves meet on Saturday at Truist Field in Atlanta. You can watch the game on Bally Sports Southwest and Bally Sports South at 7:20 p.m. ET. The game is also available to out-of-market viewers on MLB Network.

  • Six of the Rangers’ 10 road games went over the total.

Rangers vs Braves Over/Under Pick: Over 9 (Ev)

Four of the last six times that the Rangers played in Atlanta, the game went over the total while seven of the last Atlanta home games landed over the total. That is something to consider for MLB over/under predictions.

Rangers vs Braves Moneyline Pick: Rangers (+130)

Texas is 15-5 in its last 20 road games and the Rangers face a struggling pitcher in Morton.

Don’t expect d’Arnaud to hit three home runs as he did in the series opener or for the Rangers to come up to the plate with runners in scoring position three times. The run line odds for the Rangers aren’t enticing so it could be worth rolling with the visiting Rangers to win outright and even the series.

When looking at the latest MLB news and rumors, infielders Nate Lowe and Josh Jung are on the injured list for the Rangers as are pitchers Jonathan Hernandez and Josh Sborz.

Catcher Sean Murphy and infielder Ozzie Albies are out for the Braves.
