Blue Jays Look To Keep Streaking vs Angels
Toronto Has Won 4 in a Row
The Toronto Blue Jays try to win their fifth straight when they take on the host Los Angeles Angels in the second of a three-game weekend series on Saturday night. Toronto took the series opener on Friday night and is in second place in the AL East, 2½ games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. Los Angeles has alternated wins and losses over its last four contests and is tied atop the AL West standings with the Texas Rangers. Both teams want to get this key early season win, so read our MLB betting preview of the contest to help you determine how you want to do your betting online.
Bichette Bomb Caps Blue Jays’ Rally
The Toronto Blue Jays trailed for much of the series opener, but Bo Bichette’s three-run home run in the seventh inning changed that. Starter Chris Bassitt got the Blue Jays behind early, giving up two runs in the first, but he was confident in his teammates.

“‘It’s going to take a lot more than two runs to beat (Toronto),’” Bassitt said after Friday’s win. “This lineup is unbelievable. This defense is unbelievable, and I trust everyone here. To beat me with just two, it’s not going to happen with this lineup.”
Bichette was 2-for-4 in the contest, adding a double. He’s batting .342 with two home runs and six RBis atop the Blue Jays’ lineup.
First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was also 2-for-4 in the win, upping his season batting average to .419, which is sixth in the majors. He has two home runs and six RBIs this season and has gone 8-for-13 at the plate over the last three games.
Right-hander Jose Berrios will make his second start of the season on Saturday night as he looks to bounce back from an ugly first outing. Berrios went 5⅔ innings against the Kansas City Royals on Monday, allowing eight runs on nine hits while striking out seven and walking two.
Angels Offense Goes Cold In Opener
The Los Angeles Angels did get a Mike Trout home run in the first inning of Friday’s series opener, but they didn’t produce much after that. Los Angeles finished with three hits in the 4-3 loss, with Trout and Shohei Ohtani accounting for all of them.
Trout’s two-run shot in the first gave him a six-game hitting streak. He’s batting .348 with two home runs and five RBIs in the early going of the campaign.
Ohtani was 2-for-4 with two strikeouts on Friday night. He’s batting .320 with two home runs and six RBIs in 2023.
Los Angeles will send left-hander Tyler Anderson to the mound. Anderson is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA after he threw six shutout innings on Sunday against the Oakland Athletics, striking out four and walking two.

Blue Jays vs Angels Head-To-Head
The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels have had competitive matchups in recent years, with the two teams splitting the 14 games they played over the last two seasons. Toronto got the season series win in 2022, sweeping all four games played in Los Angeles.
The Angels had won the season series from the Blue Jays in the previous five seasons they’d played prior to 2022. The MLB spreads for Saturday’s matchup are favoring the hosts to even up the series with a victory.

Blue Jays vs Angels Picks and Prediction
Both the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels have multiple stars that can get on a tear at the plate, which can make it hard for a sportsbook to determine who will come out on top. We like the Angels eking this one out behind solid work on the mound from Anderson.
When doing your MLB betting, take Los Angeles to win and cover at home.
