Jays Look to Extend Winning Streak
The Toronto Blue Jays extended their winning streak to three games after sweeping the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend. Toronto dominated all three games, outscoring the Pirates 22-3.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies had lost six straight before getting a much-needed 6-1 win against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.

Blue Jays Have Mojo Back
After losing five straight, the Toronto Blue Jays said enough is enough. Over the weekend, they swept the Pirates, who had been among the top teams in the Majors before that.
Those who MLB bet online saw the Jays look crisp as they outscored them 22-3 in this series. Manager John Schneider said that this is “what this lineup is capable of” and now the team will try to maintain momentum.
Alek Manoah will be on the bump and he’s been struggling this season. MLB betting handicappers have mostly turned from trusting him to betting against him.
The Jays have dropped three of his last four starts as he’s allowed 14 runs in that span. He started the season with a seven-inning shutout over the Kansas City Royals. Since then, he’s coughed up 17 runs in 26 innings while posting an ugly 1.69 WHIP.
We’ll see if he can turn this around but he’s been dicey to back in the sportsbook.
Philadelphia Gets Jump-Start
The Philadelphia Phillies were desperate for a win in the midst of their losing streak and they got one against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. A catalyst came in the way of a minor batting order change.
Kyle Schwarber had consistently been batting at the leadoff spot but was dropped down to the fifth spot in the order in an effort to wake him up. Bryson Stott was bumped up to the top spot to try and rejuvenate him as well.
Schwarber had a hit in just one of his last 30 at-bats while Stott connected on just one of his last 14 at-bats. Both players connected for big hits against Boston after the change.
Right-hander Aaron Nola, who’s posted a 2-2 record and 4.64 ERA, will try to cool off the Toronto bats. Nola has turned in a quality start in three of his last four outings, but has allowed one home run in the last three.
