White Sox Welcome Blue Jays
The Chicago White Sox will welcome the Toronto Blue Jays into the Windy City for a three-game series starting Monday.
The first pitch is set for 8:!0 p.m. ET on Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago.
Blue Jays Disappointing Again
The Toronto Blue Jays are one of the hardest teams in baseball to describe— they are 38-28, which most squads would be happy with, but they consistently fail to meet expectations against elite sides.
The Blue Jays find themselves 11 games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East, and despite being a favorite amongst MLB picks to reach the World Series, it is looking like they will face a first-round exit in the playoffs.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been the biggest under-performer on offense as despite leading his team in home runs and RBIs. He is batting slightly worse than he did in 2021, and his home run total is only tied for 10th-best in the league; the son of a legend has to carry the burden of expectation after setting the bar so high for himself, which is why his season has been viewed as a disappointment.
Bo Bichette, George Springer and Alejandro Kirk have all been solid contributors and are the game-changing players that contenders need, but the team just has not been able to capitalize on this quite yet.
Jose Berrios (5-2, 4.65 ERA) will get the start after giving up three earned runs in seven innings against the Baltimore Orioles his last time out.
White Sox Stumbling
The Chicago White Sox have also not had the season that many expected. Although they were never supposed to have a team as good as Toronto, they were supposed to have a cakewalk to the American League Central title. However, they are only 31-33 and third in the division, five games behind the leading Minnesota Twins.
Their last game ended in a 4-3 loss to the Houston Astros, which marked yet another series loss in what has been a forgettable start.
Tim Anderson is one of four injured starters, and by far the most impactful with a .356 batting average . Without him, the team is wildly inconsistent and lacks real long ball hitters, which means they are often fighting from behind.
Lance Lynn will make just his second appearance after giving up three earned runs in 4.1 innings against the Detroit Tigers in his first start. The 35-year-old finished 2021 with an 11-6 record and 2.69 ERA.
Blue Jays vs White Sox Head-to-Head
Toronto took a three-game sweep, the only series between the two earlier this season.
Chicago, however, was on the winning end of the 2021 series, claiming four wins from a possible seven.

Blue Jays vs White Sox Prediction
MLB odds like the Blue Jays by a small margin. They are the better team and, more importantly, the healthier team.
Chicago’s usual advantage in the bullpen is also slightly nullified by the return of Lynn, who is making only his second start. Toronto counters with Berrios, who wins over twice as many games as he loses.
