Braves-Phillies Series Finale MLB Predictions, Sept. 13

The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies close out a four-game series Wednesday, having played the first two in a doubleheader on Monday. That could affect MLB bets, with both lineups having a field day in all three games while bullpens get tired.

This will be the season’s second to last meeting of the two division rivals, with a final three-game series in Atlanta starting Sept. 18. The Braves are on pace to have the best record in the National League, while the Phillies look primed to make the playoffs through the Wild Card.

Starting Pitching

Spencer Strider (16-5, 3.83 ERA) vs Cristopher Sanchez (2-3, 3.26)

For most of the season, Spencer Strider has been one of the top pitchers in the league, a big reason why the Braves are the #1 team in the NL. However, he was horrible in his last start, allowing six runs in 2.2 innings and giving up a homer. This could affect MLB betting lines since two of the three times that he allowed more than five runs in a start, he struggled in the next outing.

On the other hand, Cristopher Sanchez had a great start in his last appearance for the Phillies. He pitched five shutout innings, allowing only five base runners, four on hits, striking out four. This is after Sanchez struggled in August, allowing at least a run in each of his five outings, finishing the month with a 4.88 ERA.

Braves Power Keeps Going

It is not hard to see that the Braves have one of the best offenses in the league, another reason why they have the top seed in the NL in their sights. They have scored the most runs, and lead the league in homers, with the best batting average, all by a wide margin.

Leading Atlanta’s lineup is likely MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. and Matt Olson, who is falling behind in our MLB lines for the award. The two have combined for 11 homers and 25 runs batted in over the last seven days alone.

They both hit homers in the last game against the Phillies, leading the Braves to a 7-6 win in the 10th inning. It was Olson’s 51st home run, tied for a franchise record. It might be a decent MLB pick for him to break the record tonight.

Phillies Aiming for Series Split

This series has not started the way the Phillies wanted. Sure, they are 16 games back from the NL East, but given that the Phillies could meet their division rival in the playoffs, they would like to build up some momentum going into that potential matchup.

The Phillies lost the opening game of this four-game set, 10-8, going into extra innings. In the second game, the Phillies did win, 7-5, still allowing the Braves lineup to put up runs. Then, in the third and last game, the Phillies came back from down 6-1 to force extra innings, only to lose again.

Pitching for the Phillies did not hold its own in the first three games, and Sanchez will take the mound in the finale. He has yet to face the Braves this season, but his performances in August won’t lean MLB spreads toward the Phillies.

Braves vs Phillies Best Bet

MLB betting online picks have hit the over in every game of this series, and it looks like it will happen again. The Braves offense is hot, and the Phillies are keeping up. On top of that, Strider has struggled after poor starts, while there should not be much faith in Sanchez to keep this Braves lineup in check.

Best Bet: Over 9 -105
