One of the Best Facing the Worst
While the Atlanta Braves are not playing their best baseball, they still have one of the best records in the National League. Starting Monday, their opponent for the next three games will be the Oakland Athletics, who have the worst record in baseball and have done little to climb out of that. That leans MLB odds heavily in the Braves’ favor.
The Braves have an advantage in MLB lines which makes sense based on their record, despite struggling in the last series. It makes more sense with the Athletics having lost 11 straight.
Braves in Minor Slump
In the last series, the Braves started well, winning the first game 8-5 against the Philadelphia Phillies. Atlanta’s pitching staff, which is dealing with injuries, struggled in Game 2, allowing six runs while the offense showed its first sign of slowing down.
Then in game three, the Braves lineup was shut down, scoring one run off four hits, striking out 14 times. The Braves lineup has been one of the hottest in the league, playing a role in the team being solid for MLB betting. They got hot in Game 4, scoring 11 runs to avoid losing the series.
Athletics Move to Las Vegas Getting Serious
Despite the Athletics losing 11 straight, that isn’t what this team is headlining MLB news for, with most people focusing on the possible move and not the terrible play on the field.

The speculation around the franchise moving has only made Oakland worse for MLB spreads. Nothing is going their way, having the season’s worst ERA and scoring the second-fewest runs.

Neither pitcher has thrown a single pitch in the major league this season, making MLB picks a little more complicated.
Michael Soroka has not been in the majors since 2020, having dealt with two significant injuries. He has been working his way back up through the minors, and given Atlanta’s injuries now, the team has decided to call Soroka up. Paul Blackburn started 21 games in 2022 and was an All-Star. He suffered an injury in spring training that has kept him out till now.
