Braves Aiming for Sweep
The second straight matchup between the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies went almost exactly like the first. Atlanta wound up coming away with the 4-1 victory, now outscoring Philadelphia 9-4 in those contests.
This has now given the Braves their seventh win out of their last 10 games and an opportunity to sweep this mid-week series from their National League East rival on Thursday.
As for the Phillies, this recent loss was their sixth out of their last nine games as they continue to stumble. Can the Phillies avoid the sweep in this one and cash on the MLB betting odds?
Let’s check the latest MLB picks, stats, MLB news injury reports, and MLB odds for Team A vs Team B. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions.
Braves Three Games Back in Division
It’s always difficult to beat a team three times in three days. In order to do so, the Braves will send Ian Anderson to the mound.
Anderson is 6-4 with a below-average 4.60 ERA. He hasn’t faced the Philadelphia Phillies since 2021, beating them 5-3 back then. He pitched six innings and allowed just two runs.
Interestingly enough, Anderson has been far better on the road compared to at home. When he has home-field advantage, it hasn’t proven to be much of one as he is 1-2 with a 6.28 ERA.
When he hits the road, those numbers improve to 5-2 with a 3.55 ERA. On top of that, he’s struggled of late overall. He has a 5.06 ERA this month, which is lofty.
Atlanta is putting him right in the position he needs to be in for this upcoming date with Philadelphia.
Phillies Have to Bounce Back
The Phillies have been able to play the Atlanta Braves fairly close in these last two games, but couldn’t end up pulling away with a win in either. The Phillies are sending Aaron Nola to the mound in the hopes that he can be the pitcher to help them snap out of it.
Nola is 4-5 with a respectable 2.98 ERA. He’s given up just a total of three earned runs in his last four starts, so he’s on quite the roll right now.
His ERA is actually the 20th best in the league for a pitcher. On top of that, he’s picked up 109 strikeouts, which is the fifth-most in baseball.
Nola has been great and his team has capitalized on his performances, winning five of his last six. One of those was a start against the Braves in which the Phillies won 4-1. If you’re playing the MLB odds, note that he lasted 8.1 innings while picking up 10 strikeouts. He could be the boost they need.
Braves vs Phillies Head-to-Head
These two teams have played against one another six times, with the Braves winning four of them.

Braves vs Phillies Prediction
The Phillies have been able to pick up the favorites tag in the sportsbook ahead of this game due to the starters. Despite the fact that Atlanta has taken care of them twice in the last two days, the Phillies are favored with Nola on the mound.
Pitching-wise, Nola has been great of late. Plus, he’s got experience against the Braves and flat-out dominated them in the 8.1 innings he pitched.
This could be the boost the Phillies desperately need to avoid a sweep.
