Teams Resume Series in Pittsburgh

Braves Hoping to Beat Up Struggling Pirates

MLB betting is starting to heat up as we have almost reached the final week of August. The Pittsburgh Pirates host the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night in the second of a three-game series.

Pittsburgh has now lost three straight games and is just 47-75. This young Pirates team has been much tougher to deal with at home, but they just have too many holes on this roster.

Atlanta comes into this game with an overall record of 76-48 and has been red-hot of late. The Braves have won four of their last five, and they are inching closer to the New York Mets in the National League East, trailing them by three games.

The MLB lines for this game have the Atlanta Braves as big moneyline betting favorites over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Let’s check the latest MLB news, stats, injury reports and MLB odds for Braves vs Pirates. We’ve plenty of MLB picks & predictions.

Braves Have Plenty of Bats

The Atlanta Braves continue to do most things extremely well, but it has been the offense that has really started to take over games of late. Atlanta has belted 187 home runs and Austin Riley leads the team with 31 long balls.

Michael Harris II was the offensive star on Monday night, and he spoke about his team’s consistent approach of late. After the win, Harris said, “We’ll take it. It was 2-1, but they all count. We’re just trying to go out there and get win after win. We did that tonight. So, just keep trying to do that.”

It should be another big day at the plate for Atlanta on Monday, but the Braves also have an advantage as Max Fried is set to make this start. Fried is 11-4 with a 2.60 ERA and he just continues to get big outs when needed.

Pirates Just Don’t Have the Pitching

The Pittsburgh Pirates have started to develop some terrific young offensive talent, but the pitching just hasn’t been there yet. This team enters Tuesday night with a team ERA of 4.66, and that just isn’t good enough to get it done on a consistent basis.

JT Brubaker will be on the mound in what has been a forgettable season. Brubaker is just 3-10 with a 4.19 ERA on the year, and he has had some rough outings up to this point.

Oneil Cruz belted a solo home run for the Pirates on Monday night, and he is just one of several young stars. Pittsburgh has hit 117 home runs, but still sports a team batting average of just .221.

Braves vs Pirates Prediction

Looking at the final score (2-1) on Monday night in this matchup should tell you that there is more to making MLB picks than simply glancing at season records. Even though the Braves were able to win that game, Pittsburgh put up a much bigger fight than what was expected.

This game just looks like a complete mismatch on paper, though, especially when taking a close look at the starting pitching matchup. Pittsburgh won’t be able to keep this game close on Tuesday night as Atlanta will have a big game at the plate.

Head to BetUS Sportsbook and take the Atlanta Braves -1½.
