Orioles Try to Build On First Win vs Brewers

Brewers Looks to Avoid Another Series Loss

The Baltimore Orioles go for their first winning streak of the 2022 campaign when they host the Milwaukee Brewers in the second of a three-game interleague series on Tuesday night. Baltimore earned its first victory of the season on Monday, topping Milwaukee 2-0. The Brewers were shut out for the second time in three games and will need some offense to avoid a second straight series loss. This one should be another close contest, so let’s take a closer look at it before you make a bet online.

Let’s check the latest MLB Picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB Odds for Brewers vs Orioles. We’ve plenty of MLB Predictions.

Brewers Need Their Offense to Heat Up

The Milwaukee Brewers have solid hitters in their lineup, but most of those hitters are struggling in the early going of the season. Through four games, Milwaukee is batting .202 as a team and they have scored nine runs in four games, including two shutouts.

Shortstop Willy Adames is batting .267 with a double, a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored, but he’s also struck out six times in 15 at-bats.

Outfielder Christian Yelich is hitting .364 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. The Brewers are hoping for more power out of Yelich, but just getting the bat on the ball at this point has been positive.

Left-hander Eric Lauer will be on the mound for the second game of the series on Tuesday. Lauer was 7-5 with a 3.19 ERA in 2021, making 20 starts among his 24 appearances. Lauer had 117 strikeouts and 41 walks in 118⅔ innings.

Orioles Look To Make Home Crowd Happy Again

The Baltimore Orioles were able to give the fans at Oriole Park at Camden Yards a win in their home opener on Monday, and they’re hoping that will keep them coming back all season long. The Orioles were just 27-54 at home a season ago, but they’re hoping to earn some more support with some early success this year.

“We’ve got to give them something to cheer about. We’ve got to give them something to root for,” Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde said after Monday’s win. “I thought we did that today.”

The Orioles were able to do that thanks to solid pitching, with five hurlers combining on a six-hit shutout. Who will take the mound for the second game of the series is still unknown, with a starter yet to be named as of this writing.

Outfielder Cedric Mullins had both RBIs for Baltimore in Monday’s win, his first two of the season. Mullins batted .291 with 30 home runs, 59 RBIs and 91 runs scored a season ago, but he’s only batting .188 with no extra-base hits and no runs scored through the first four games in 2022.

First baseman Ryan Mountcastle is batting .333 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored this season. He’s tied for the most hits on the team (five) with outfielder Anthony Santander, who is batting .500 with a solo home run and four walks in four games.

Brewers vs Orioles Head-to-Head

These former division rivals don’t play each other much anymore, as this is the Milwaukee Brewers’ first series playing as the visitor against the Baltimore Orioles since 2003. The Brewers swept the last series between the two teams, a three-game affair in Milwaukee in 2017.

The last time Baltimore won a series against the Brewers was that 2003 series at Camden Yards. The MLB lines see the Brewers bouncing back from their opening loss, giving them the slight edge despite playing on the road.

The Milwaukee Brewers are having trouble at the plate in the early going of the season, but with a possible bullpen game for the Baltimore Orioles, it might be time for them to heat up. We like Milwaukee to get some runs on the board in this one, and even this series with a victory.
