Streaking Cardinals Atop NL Central
The St. Louis Cardinals continue to make a second-half surge. They won their fourth straight on Thursday, taking down the Colorado Rockies 13-0.
It was the 15th win in the last 19 for the Cardinals, who own a three-game lead atop the National League Central. On Friday, they will be taking on the host Arizona Diamondbacks, a team that has won back-to-back games against the San Francisco Giants.
The Diamondbacks were money in the bank in those games as an underdog in the sportsbook. They’ve won four of their last six and continue to surprise on the MLB betting odds. Will they do so again in this spot?
Cardinals Looking to Keep Momentum Going
The St. Louis Cardinals are coming off a feel-good 13-0 win over the Rockies on Thursday where Albert Pujols slugged a pinch-hit grand slam. That marked home run No. 690 for the future Hall of Famer and capped an epic afternoon.
Momentum is with this squad and they’ll try and keep it going against the Diamondbacks. Miles Mikolas will get the start as the team aims for their fifth straight victory.
Mikolas is 9-9 with a 3.44 ERA. He’s had a bit of a rough time on the road this year compared to when he has home-field advantage.
At home, he’s 5-2 with a stellar 2.45 ERA. On the road, he falls to 4-7 with a 4.59 ERA.
Henry Getting Call For Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks are rolling with a pitcher that hasn’t gotten a lot of action in Tommy Henry. He has appeared in just three games all season, each of those coming during the month of August. The Diamondbacks won two of those games as he’s compiled a 2-1 record and a 4.15 ERA.
It’s an incredibly small sample size to go off, but Henry was great in the one game he got to pitched at home. He went seven innings with just one run and four hits allowed as the Diamondbacks beat the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He’s given up seven runs in 10.1 innings on the road, so he should feel more comfortable in this spot. It won’t help that the Cards are batting an incredible .297 over their last 10 games. They’re one of the best hitting teams in baseball right now.

Cardinals vs Diamondbacks Prediction
It’s hard to predict what we might be seeing out of Henry. He’s young and inexperienced, and he’s facing a red-hot lineup.
The Cardinals have been one of the best teams in the second half and Mikolas is on the verge of nabbing his 10th win. He typically gives quality outings. If you bet online, go with the Cardinals for your MLB picks.
