Kershaw eyeing 10th win
Clayton Kershaw will try to lock down double digit wins for the 11th time in his illustrious career Saturday when the Los Angeles Dodgers face the St. Louis Cardinals in the second game of a three-game series.
Kershaw stands at 9-3 thanks to back-to-back wins over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 34-year-old is knocking at the door of 200 career wins, a milestone achieved by two pitchers in Dodgers’ history — Don Sutton and Don Drysdale. Kerhsaw will need to return next season if he wants to cross that threshold, needing six wins to do so.
Pujols Reaches Milestone
Albert Pujols reached the 700-home run plateau in style on Friday, blasting a pair of home runs as the Cardinals crushed the Dodgers, 11-0. Pujols becomes the second person to have pitched to reach the 700-home run mark. The other was Babe Ruth. Pujols pitched once in mop-up duty as the Cardinals were being routed once in a game..
“Souvenirs are for the fans,” Pujols said of the fan not returning the record baseball “I don’t have any problem if they want to keep it. If they want to give it back, that’s great. But at the end of the day, I don’t focus on material stuff.”
Cardinals vs Dodgers Head-to-Head
The Dodgers and the Cardinals have split four games with the Dodgers taking a pair in St. Louis and the Cardinals winning 11-0 Friday in Los Angeles behind the 699th and 700th career home runs from Pujols. The Dodgers beat the Cardinals 3-1 last year in the National League wild card game on Chris Taylor’s two-out walk-off two-run home run.
The Cardinals lead the all-time series 1013-984, including 456-537 in Los Angeles.

Cardinals vs Dodgers Prediction
Jordan Montgomery, who leads all Cardinals’ starters with a 2.35 ERA this season, will oppose Kershaw on the mound. The left-hander won his first five starts with the Cardinals after coming over from the New York Yankees via trade, but has been saddled with two straight losses.
Montgomery is 18-9 in his career against teams with a losing record, but 9-13 against teams with a winning record. He will be facing the Dodgers for the first time in his career.
The Dodgers have produced nine unders in their last 12 games while the Cardinals have produced eight unders in their last 12 contests. Go with the under in a solid pitching matchup.
