Picks, Prediction for Cardinals vs Guardians on Saturday, May 27
The Cleveland Guardians attempt to match their best winning streak of the month when they host the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday night as the underdog in the MLB odds.
Amed Rosario’s bases-clearing double highlighted a four-run fifth inning on Friday and the Guardians held on for a 4-3 victory after dispiriting home losses to the Chicago White Sox in their previous two contests.

The Cardinals, who started the season 10-24 have improved to 13-6 since, dropped to 2-3 on their road trip to Ohio after leaving nine on base Friday.
St. Louis is still second at +200 in MLB live betting to win the National League Central despite currently sitting percentage points out of last place.
Arenado Due To Break Out
While reigning NL MVP Paul Goldschmidt is 5-for-12 over his last three games, fellow All-Star Nolan Arenado is hitless in his last 13 at-bats for the Cardinals.
St. Louis is second in the NL in runs scored (266) and has registered 37 over the past seven contests. Leadoff hitter Lars Nootbaar has led the way of late, going 9-for-20 in the last five games,
The under is 2-0 in the last two games for St. Louis after going 0-5 in the sportsbook across the previous five.
Guardians Need Offensive Spark
The Guardians have pitched relatively well (3.84 ERA, ninth in majors), but are last in several offensive categories while averaging 3.46 runs per outing. Jose Ramirez, who was fourth in the AL MVP voting last season, is just 2-for-16 on the homestand.
Cleveland manager Terry Francona told reporters after Wednesday’s 6-0 loss to the White Sox, “We’re all getting tested and I believe we’re tough enough to fight through this.” They showed some life Friday.
The under is 31-16 -3 according to MLB lines in Cleveland games.
Starting Pitchers
Jack Flaherty (3-4, 5.29 ERA) vs. Tanner Bibee (1-1, 3.18 ERA)
Flaherty completed at least five innings in his first five starts, but just twice in the last five after a no-decision last Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers in which he allowed three runs over 4 ⅔ frames. The 27-year-old right-hander is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA on the road in 2023 and 7-5 with a 4.80 mark in 18 career interleague starts.
Bibee has gotten through at least 5⅓ innings in four of his first five major league starts after giving up two runs across six frames in a no-decision versus the New York Mets last Sunday. The 24-year-old righthander has been better against lefties (.224) than righties (.273). Bibee is 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA in two interleague starts and 1-1 with a 3.18 mark in three home outings.
Cardinals vs Guardians Head-to Head
The Guardians have won six of the last nine meetings after Friday’s triumph and the under is 4-1 in the last five at Progressive Field if you are online gambling.
Flaherty is 0-1 in two career starts versus Cleveland, allowing five runs across nine total innings. Ramirez is 2-for-5 with a homer against Flaherty.
The Cardinals are 12-15 on the road and the Guardians 11-14 at home.

Cardinals vs Guardians Betting Lines
Over/Under Pick
Both starting pitchers have the ability to shut down opponents for six innings, but there are plenty of big-time bats in each lineup.
Nootbar is setting the table and Nolan Gorman (13 homers, 40 RBIs) has hit safely in 15 of the last 16 games, while Arenado and Goldschmidt (nine homers each) are dangerous for St. Louis. Ramirez is due and Josh Naylor (seven homers, 32 RBIs) is a threat for Cleveland.
The over is also 7-0 in Flaherty’s last seven starts.
Pick: Over 8 ½ (-120)
Moneyline Pick
Much of this depends on Bibee. He will be making just his sixth major league start, but he yielded two or fewer runs in four of the first five.
Flaherty is certainly capable of limiting a Cleveland offense that has been shut out six times in the first two months of the season. It would be hard to go against Flaherty in this one..
Pick: Cardinals (-105)
Spread Pick
It’s always good to go with a home dog in MLB spreads. The Guardians have played the most one-run games in the majors through 50 games, going 10-13, and should gain some momentum off of Friday’s victory.
“We’ll take it.”@CleGuardians manager Terry Francona said Amed Rosario’s three-run double in Friday’s 4-3 win over the Cardinals was a welcomed sight because the offense hasn’t “bunched runs together like that.”#ForTheLand pic.twitter.com/ds9mmuAepJ

But the value in betting online is with St. Louis.
Pick: Cardinals +1 ½ (-200)
