Finale of Four-Game Series
The Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres will finish out their four-games series when the two go head-to-head once more Monday. The Cubs will be looking to win the series with a third win and their second in a row while the Padres will be hoping to earn a split. According to MLB odds, however, San Diego is favored in the matchup.
Cubs Get Strong Mound Work
Though the Chicago Cubs had a strong offensive outing in Sunday’s game against the Padres, their pitching was a constant in both of their wins.
The Cubs recorded seven runs in their third game against the Padres while their pitchers held San Diego to one run each in their two wins.
In Chicago’s last win, starter Marcus Stroman allowed one hit in six innings, throwing six strikeouts, while relievers added three more strikeouts.

The Cubs will hope to get another strong start in their final game against the Padres to close out the series with a win.
Padres Falter at the Plate
San Diego’s offense had a strong second game to help get the win, but the Padres struggled in game three for a loss.
Though the Padres pitched a shutout in their win, they also scored six runs after hitting two homers. However, that offense was nowhere to be found the next game.
San Diego struck out nine times against Chicago, leaving eight on base in the loss.
The Padres will have to find some consistency in their offense to help them even the series, but it may be best to make use of some MLB live betting odds in this matchup.
Kyle Hendricks (0-1, 3.86 ERA) vs. Blake Snell (1-6, 4.50)
Hendricks will be making just his third start for the Cubs this season, though he has shown improvement from one game to the next. After allowing six hits for five runs in 4⅓ innings in his first start, he improved that number to six hits for one run in five innings the next game. However, this is Hendricks’ first road start, so it may be something to keep an eye on for those making MLB picks.
Snell has a little bit more experience this season, and has also been steadily improving. After posting ERAs of 6.23 and 5.30 in March and April, respectively, Snell dropped his ERA to 3.82 in May, allowing 25 hits and 14 runs in 33 innings. However, he is 1-4 at home with a 5.68 ERA.
Cubs vs Padres Head-to-Head
The Cubs and Padres already met earlier this season in late April in Chicago, where the Cubs won a three-game series two games to one.

Cubs vs Padres Betting Lines
The Cubs and Padres have failed to hit the total given by MLB lines in any of their three previous games in the series, and even with the uncertain pitching performances, they should fail to do so once more in the final game of the series.
Pick: Under 8½ (-105)
Both teams have been fairly inconsistent in the series, with both offenses hard to trust. However, Chicago has found a way to win against San Diego on the road and is 18-9 as the underdog, so take the Cubs against the sportsbook for the win and the series.
