Devilishly Good Value Fading Angels on MLB Bets Today

The Tampa Bay Rays continue their final homestand of the regular season on Wednesday when they take on the Los Angeles Angels for game two of a three-game tilt. The Rays took game one 6-2, snapping a brief two-game losing streak, and are the clear MLB betting favorites to win this game.

With a week and a half left in the season, the Rays have claimed a playoff berth but trail the Baltimore Orioles by 2.5 games for the AL East lead. The Rays enter hump day with +900 odds to beat out the O’s (-1800) for the division in what could be a very profitable MLB bet if the Rays can pull it off.

Meanwhile, the Angels need divine intervention with Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout injured to finish the regular season with any dignity. When the pair played, the Angels were still bad. Now that they are both out forget about any happy endings to the year for LA.

Pitching Matchup Favors Home Team

It would take a herculean effort from the Angels and starter Reid Detmers to try and finish the season on a good note after losing six straight games and going a pathetic 1-5 against the MLB spread. Even before most offensive producers got hurt, the Angels were a terrible team to make MLB picks on the road with a -11.44% return on investment away from Anaheim.

Detmers also struggles away from home, with a 5.40 ERA and a 1-6 record on the road over 66 innings pitched.

Aaron Civale: (1-0/7 IP/2 ER vs. LAA) (5.31 ERA at Tropicana) (1-0/5.33 ERA last 5 starts) (5-1/2.51 ERA at night)

Forget Detmers and the Fallen Angels; they aren’t worth your time or money. Instead, we will back Aaron Civale and the Rays to go up 2-0 in this series. Civale has led the Rays to two straight ATS victories and an MLB betting record of 6-1 ATS in his previous seven starts.

Tampa Bay has the best home ATS record in the MLB at 42-34 with a 17.07% ROI on the season. With a 9-1 ATS record at the Trop in their previous ten games, there is no reason to assume Tampa will fail to outscore the tragic Angels today or tomorrow in the series finale.

If you prefer to wager on MLB totals, I’m leaning toward it going Over 8 runs at -117 odds.

MLB Best Bet: Tampa Bay Rays -1½ (-110)

MLB Prop Bets on LAA vs TB

A quick addition to our MLB predictions today is for 1B Yandy Diaz to go over 1.5 total bases from hits against Detmers and the Halos.

There isn’t much to say about this play other than Diaz has been one of the best hitters in the league this season with a 323 average and hits lefties even harder at .336 with an OPS of 1.026.

Diaz smacked three hits on Tuesday, including one double, while scoring a run and earning a walk. With a better matchup in game two, my money is on Diaz to cash this prop early as the Rays cruise to victory.

MLB Prop Bet: Yandy Diaz Over 1½ Total Bases From Hits (-120)
