The battle for the NL West continues to heat up tonight as the Los Angeles Dodgers, current favorites on our MLB betting lines, will look to avenge last night’s 9-5 loss against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium.

With LA not wanting to leave any wiggle room for other teams in its division to shorten the distance to the top, let’s break down the best MLB player prop bets and game picks for tonight.

My prediction

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-125)

The whole storyline behind every other team in the NL West playing catch-up to the Dodgers for the divisional lead (besides the Colorado Rockies) has given fans plenty to talk about since the start of the season.

Even if the Diamondbacks were able to topple down LA yesterday, I’m not buying into that happening again today, especially considering Yoshinobu Yamamoto will be getting the start for the locals here.

Between Yamamoto keeping Arizona’s attack under siege, LA’s bats pushing through against Ryne Nelson –a reliever forced into being a starter this season– and Arizona’s bullpen, which doesn’t offer much assurance, my first MLB pick here has to go with LA covering the run line.

Diamondbacks vs Dodgers Over 9.5

Both offenses in this game continue riding atop the league’s leaders when it comes to runs scored, with LA tied for first place with the New York Yankees and Arizona in 5th place.

While in other games where Yamamoto starts, I’d be wary to want to take the total going over, between yesterday’s result, LA’s offense looking to bounce back dominantly, and the Dbacks sending Nelson to the mound, my MLB parlay pick today is to take the game’s over.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-104)

For a pitcher as dominant when it comes to holding a low ERA like Yamamoto (2.12), his strikeout count doesn’t show the same level of dominance.

Looking back at his last five games, only once, back in mid April, did LA’s ace pitch over 6 Ks, tossing five against the Pittsburgh Pirates, six against the Atlanta Braves, four against the Diamondbacks a couple of weeks ago, and six once again in his last start against the A’s.

Arizona is not an easy team to strike out against. According to MLB stats, they rank fourth in the fewest Ks on offense with 356.

Considering this trend continues and the Dbacks don’t go chasing after Yamamoto’s pitches, his under in strikeouts stands as a lock when targeting today’s MLB expert picks and parlays.

Shohei Ohtani 2+ Hits (+144)

Is there anything Shohei Ohtani can’t do? He can smack the ball out of the park, with his league-leading 17 home runs serving as a perfect testament. His team-leading 58 hits show he can also get on base easily when he’s not hitting dingers.

In short, when it comes to hitting, if there’s an Ohtani MLB player prop today for the taking, the best thing to do is toss a couple of bucks at it.

With 10 hits over the last seven days, including five HRs, and coming off a game where he launched a 389 ft solo shot, I’ll back Ohtani staying hot on the plate and snagging up at least two hits tonight.
