Padres’ Mile-High Malaise
There isn’t that much MLB wagering prevalent Monday night One of the exceptions is in San Diego, as the Padres host the Arizona Diamondbacks. This begins a three-game series.
Arizona has been somewhat of a surprise this season, a not-horrible 32-36, including two games under .500 on the road. However, weaknesses can be found with the Diamondbacks.
San Diego, meanwhile, was swept in a three-game series road in Colorado by the Rockies. Despite losing the trio, the Padres are still firmly in the playoff race with a 41-27 record this season.
The MLB lines for this game have San Diego as the betting favorites at -165.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are extremely hard to figure. While they can be very impressive0. Arizona’s team batting average of just .218 this season, with the team ERA sits right around 4.30.
Righthander Zach Davies is going to be on the mound Monday night against San Diego, and his season mirrors the team. Davies is 2-3 with a 3.78 ERA so far in 2022, but he has had some solid starts to this point.
The offense for Arizona is led by Christian Walker and Ketel Marte, but there are also some big holes. Walker has belted 18 runs this season, while Marte leads the team with a .269 batting average.
Padres Without Big Stars
The San Diego Padres have been playing all season long without Fernando Tatis Jr. Now without superstar Manny Machado as well after a left-ankle sprain Sunday. Acting manager Ryan Flaherty said, “All in all, it’s as good as it could be,” after hearing about the negative x-rays, but the San Diego offense is going to miss Machado.
San Diego has hit just 56 home runs this season, 20 less than the Diamondbacks. Machado is leading the team in nearly every single offensive category, and this team has to find a way to score some runs without him.
Fortunately for the Padres, veteran righty Yu Darvish starts Monday night. Darvish is 6-3 with a 3.35 ERA this season and can shut down any opposing offense. Darvish enters off wins over the New York Mets and Chicago Cubs, having surrendered just one run over 15 innings in those two starts.
Diamondbacks vs Padres Head-to-Head
These two teams met to open the season, with the Padres winning three of the four games in Phoenix. They are clearly the better overall team.
Arizona had a dominant stretch against San Diego of late, winning the season series every year from 2016-2019.

Diamondbacks vs Padres Prediction
Looking at starting pitching when making MLB picks and appears to be a mismatched game. Darvish has been pitching well for the Padres this season and that trend is taken to continue\.
Arizona’s been much better than the preseason expectations set for them, but not on the same level as the Padres. It won’t be able to do much damage at the plate in this game, which will ultimately get a bit out of hand.
