Freeway Series Set to Kick Off

Dodgers Sizzling, Angels Fizzling

The battle of Los Angeles has plenty of stars with Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Cody Bellinger, but the matchup itself lacks luster. That’s because the teams are separated by 19 wins in the standings.

The Los Angeles Dodgers lead the National League West with a record of 58-30 and have been one of the hardest teams to beat lately. They have won 13 of 15 and are coming of a 4-0 shutout of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Angels can’t string together wins. They are just 39-51 and have dropped 10 out of their last 12 games.

Will this one play out as the MLB betting odds suggest with a Dodgers win or can the Angels surprise? Let’s check the latest MLB news, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for Dodgers vs Angels. We’ve plenty of MLB picks & predictions.

Kershaw Goes for Dodgers

The Angeles Dodgers are going to be sending out Clayton Kershaw on Friday and he’s been great. He’s compiled a 6-2 record with a 2.40 ERA despite missing some time with injuries.

Kershaw faced the Chicago Cubs last Saturday, pitching 7.2 innings and allowing just two runs throughout that span.

Now, Kershaw is aiming to make this upcoming date his second consecutive victory. The Angels’ lineup batted just .091 against him, including Trout (.200). The Dodgers look like a good option on the MLB odds.

Sandoval Struggling to Keep Up

Patrick Sandoval is starting for the Angeles Angels but he’s been inconsistent. He started the season off with a strong 3-1 record, but he’s since lost three straight starts.

To make it worse, the team has lost six of the last seven games where he’s pitched. The Angels don’t give him much support as they’ve scored just four runs in his last three starts.

Sandoval still holds onto a manageable 3-4 record along with a solid 2.95 ERA, though. Plus, he’s been a little more successful when playing with home-field advantage compared to on the road.

At home, he’s 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA. On the road, he dips down to 1-3 with a 3.05 ERA. The Angels hope that he won’t lose his fourth straight game in this one.

Dodgers vs Angels Prediction

The sportsbook odds have the Dodgers listed as the betting favorites and that’s no surprise. They’re one of the best teams in the league and are facing one of the worst.

Ohtani has been terrific all season for the Angels, and has consistently put them in contention to win. However, one player can’t win you every game.

If you take the Dodgers with your MLB picks, you have to lay a lot of juice here but they’re probably the play. The other option is to take the under since there are two good pitchers on the bump and the Angels don’t give Sandoval much support.
