Dodgers vs Brewers: Comeback For The Brewers? We Don’t Think So. May 8

LA Getting Great Value in Series Opener

The Los Angeles Dodgers head east on Monday for a series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers suffered a terrible start to the month and are 1-6 in their previous seven games. They snapped their losing streak on Sunday, but have they put their losing ways behind them?

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are back in the groove and firmly in first place in the National League West after winning eight of their last nine.

Dodgers vs Brewers Prediction, Game Preview, Live Stream, Odds and Picks May 8

The MLB lines list Monday’s series opener as a pick’em, with the Dodgers and Brewers listed as -105 on the moneyline odds. I have to admit the MLB odds here are curious, and I don’t think they are on the same level as the Dodgers despite the won-loss records.

Dodgers Heating Up

After a tepid start to the season, the Los Angeles Dodgers are back on track, winners of eight of their last nine games and in first place in the NL West. With back-to-back wins against the division rival the San Diego Padres, the Dodgers are back to being one of the league’s most dangerous teams.

While the Dodgers themselves are back on track, they need Monday’s starter Tony Gonsolin (0-0, 3.38), to catch up and regain his footing. Gonsolin will make his third start of the season after getting a late start and hopes to rebound after losing to the Philadelphia Phillies last Monday. He allowed three earned runs in 4⅔ innings while striking out three and walking two.

So far, Gonsolin’s K/BB ratio of 4/5 is a problem, as are his seven hits in eight innings.

The good news is that Gonsolin historically dominates this Brewers lineup with a combined 0.45 batting average and zero extra-base hits.

The Dodgers are a risky MLB bet on Monday with Gonsolin’s struggles, but he’s the more talented arm on paper.

Brewers End Six-Game Slide

The Milwaukee Brewers fell to second in the NL Central after losing six games in a row, including getting swept by the Colorado Rockies in three games. They managed to stop the bleeding with a win on Sunday against the San Francisco Giants 7-3 before heading home for Monday’s series opener.

Freddy Peralta (3-2, 3.63) will take the mound on Monday, hoping to lead the Brew Crew to a second straight win for the first time this month. The righty is having a decent season, but nothing to write home about. The Brewers lost his last start to the Rockies, but Peralta allowed only two runs in six innings while fanning 10.

Despite its star power, Peralta has fantastic stats against the current Dodgers lineup. LA’s bats have a combined .133 batting average against Peralta and just one home run in 60 at-bats. Miguel Rojas is the only player with an average of over .300 against Peralta.

The Brewers may not be the sexiest MLB pick on Monday, but they provide tempting value as MLB betting underdogs.

Dodgers vs Brewers Betting Lines

Dodgers vs Brewers Best Bets

I don’t understand why the Brewers are getting so much love from the oddsmakers here. The Brewers are 1-6 in their last seven while the Dodgers are 8-1 in their previous nine games. Gonsolin may be off to a slow start, but he’s a high-quality pitcher who flashes ace-level talent. At these odds, the Dodgers are a great bet online for Monday.

MLB Live betting fans note that the Dodgers’ bullpen hasn’t been all that great to start the season. They allow a ton of hits and sport an ERA of 4.19. Depending on the situation, an in-play wager against them in the right spot is worth a look.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are listed at +100 in our Vegas MLB lines. If you wager $100 on the Dodgers, you can win $100. The Milwaukee Brewers are -110, offering a chance to win $91 on a $100 wager.

The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives the Dodgers a 50.00% chance to win, with the Brewers at 52.38%.
