Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw is an all-time great but not someone we can bank on when making any MLB prop bets today – unless it’s going against him. He gave up five runs on five hits and three walks in just four innings of his return to the mound against the Angels last weekend. The 37-year-old puts too much of a question mark on the Dodgers going into Citi Field to take on a Mets team that scored a potential slump-busting win at Fenway Park on Wednesday.
If Kershaw finds his old form, perhaps that influences your MLB futures betting as it pertains to Los Angeles. For now, the MLB betting odds are in New York’s favor, and that’s where we’re going with the pick.

While Kershaw is an uncertain factor for the visitors, the Mets will be starting a guy in Griffin Canning who has a few marks against him. Canning is 5-1 with a 2.47 ERA so far, but we can look beyond that and see someone who is giving up a ton of hard contact (career-high 48.5%) and still has a WHIP near 1.30. Additionally, several Dodgers have teed off on Canning over the years when he was an Angel. We see a correction with this right-hander and a good amount of scoring in this one.
