Dodgers vs Padres Game 3 Prediction, Preview, Stream, Odds & Picks

The Padres Look for Two in a Row

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres are back at it on Friday for Game 3 of the NLDS. The Padres pulled off a Game 2 upset over the Dodgers on Wednesday night to pull even in this series against the favorites to win the NL pennant. If they succeed, it will be the first time the Padres took two in a row from their cross-state rivals all season.

Let’s check the latest MLB picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB predictions, for the Dodgers vs Padres. We’ve plenty of World series predictions for you to consider.

Snell is Looking to Rebound

Blake Snell (8-10, 3.38) has been a massive help to the Padres this season and is a big reason they are in the NLDS. But he did have a shaky start to the playoffs last week at Citi Field. In that game against the New York Mets, Snell lasted 3⅓ innings after giving up two earned runs and a staggering six walks. He didn’t have it and needed 90 pitches to navigate these three innings. Frankly, he’s lucky it wasn’t worse.

There are other reasons to be wary of Snell in Game 3. In three starts against the Dodgers, the lefty has a rough 3.86 ERA with a K/BB ratio of 23/10 in 14 innings. He has yet to notch a win against the Dodgers in 2022, which is a tough spot for him to turn his luck around. Snell also has a worse ERA at home of 3.56 than he does on the road.

Gonsolin Locked In

While Snell is dealing with issues for the Padres, Tony Gonsolin (16-1, 2.14) continues to look like one of the best pitchers in the league. He spent all of September on the IL with a forearm strain but posted a 0.76 ERA in four starts before going down. It’s worth noting he shut out the Padres in the first of those four starts. Gonsolin returned for a brief two-inning refresher against the Rockies last week and looked solid despite LA losing 2-1.

Gonsolin has been incredibly impressive in two starts against the Padres, with a 0.71 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 12 ⅔ innings. His lifetime numbers are just as good, with a .237 average in 80 career at-bats against this lineup.

Dodgers vs Padres Prediction

This feels like the game where the Dodgers turn a corner and take the rest of this series with relative ease. Snell is a good pitcher who doesn’t match up well against this Dodger lineup. He’s also coming off a rough start where a lesser Mets offense knocked him around. Gonsolin, on the other hand, is Cy Young material. We are a little wary of his extended time off before the playoffs, but that means he is well-rested and prepared to take on this task.
