From Bassitt to Julio: Top Player Props for March 29 MLB Action

Seven road teams won on Opening Day while home teams Arizona and Baltimore combined to score 27 runs. Will it be more of the same on Friday?

The action starts early with a pair of makeup games. Among the night games, only the Cleveland Guardians are listed as the MLB moneyline road favorite on Friday.

Toronto’s Chris Bassitt and Bobby Miller of the Los Angeles Dodgers are among the starting pitchers to consider for player props. Seattle outfielder Julio Rodriguez is always a popular pick as well.

Keep an eye on the weather updates as there is always the possibility of some early season rainouts that could wreak havoc among those who bet online.

The Los Angeles Dodgers lead the way at +350 in the odds of winning the World Series followed by the Atlanta Braves at +450. The Houston Astros are topping the odds at +750 among the American League teams.

1. Toronto Pitcher Chris Bassitt Over 5½ Strikeouts (+102)

The last time Toronto starting pitcher Chris Bassitt faced Tampa Bay, he pitched into the seventh inning and struck out eight Rays.

He struck out 20 hitters in his final two regular-season games with the Blue Jays a season ago. Tampa Bay hitters struck out 11 times in the season-opening loss, so there could be plenty of swings and misses when Bassitt makes his first start of the regular season.

2. Mariners OF Julio Rodriguez Over 1½ Total Bases (+102)

After hitting a first-inning double in the season opener, Julio Rodriguez failed to deliver in his next three at-bats. He is too good of a hitter for that to continue.

Even though the former American League Rookie of the Year is 0-for-6 with three strikeouts in his limited plate appearances against Boston starting pitcher Nick Pivetta, he is a solid MLB player prop bet today to have at least two extra bases on Friday.

3. Dodgers Pitcher Bobby Miller to Have Over 5½ Strikeouts (+112)

With all the big names on the Los Angeles Dodgers, it is easy to forget that the 24-year-old Bobby Miller won 11 games during the regular season for the Dodgers a season ago.

This will be his first appearance against the Cardinals, so it could take some time for the St. Louis hitters to get used to taking cuts against the hard-throwing Miller.

Miller had at least six strikeouts in four of his last six regular-season starts as a rookie, so the +112 odds set by our sportsbook for him to have at least six strikeouts are pretty tempting.

4. Houston DH-OF Yordan Alvarez Over 1½ Total Bases (+114)

Yordan Alvarez had two hits in the season opener against the New York Yankees with both of them being singles. He hit a pair of home runs against the Yankees a season ago. He is 3-for-10 with a home run in his career against New York starting pitcher Carlos Rodon, so take a look at the prop options for Alvarez to have at least two total bases in Game 2 of the series.

It would not be too surprising to see Alvarez hit a home run in this matchup.

5. Marlins OF Jasrado Chisholm 2+ Combined Runs and RBIs (+167)

Three of Chisholm’s last four hits against the Pirates have gone for extra bases after he had a double and two runs scored in the season opener.

He hit fourth in the batting order in Thursday’s extra-inning loss and if that continues, he will have plenty of opportunities to drive in runs.

Chisholm is always a threat to score when he gets on base, making him a solid MLB pick to have at least two combined runs and RBIs against the Pirates on Friday night.

Questions Of The Day

Which player delivered on prop bets in Thursday’s games?

Cleveland pitcher Shane Bieber and Texas third baseman Josh Jung were among the players to come through on opening day. Bieber struck out 11 hitters while Jung scored in extra innings for his second run on Opening Day.

Which MLB team is the heaviest favorite among Friday's games?

The Arizona Diamondbacks are priced at -240 to win outright after putting up 16 runs on Colorado on Thursday. The Los Angeles Dodgers have -230 odds to make it two wins in a row against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals.
