San Diego Mired in Six-Game Slide

NL West Foes Continue Three-Game Series

The San Francisco Giants were able to accomplish exactly what they sought out to do on Monday with a win over the San Diego Padres. It wasn’t in in flashy fashion, but their 1-0 shutout victory gave them their third straight victory.

Under was an easy winner in the sportsbook as this new Padres lineup – even with the addition of Juan Soto – is struggling right now. San Diego has now lost five straight games and was shut out in their last two.

They’ve yet to score more than three runs during this losing stretch. Will this be the time they break out of it? Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds.

Check the latest MLB news, stats, injury reports and MLB odds for Giants vs Padres. There are plenty of MLB picks & predictions.

Cobb Gets Nod for Giants

We will be seeing Alex Cobb take the mound for San Francisco. Cobb has had a tough season with a 3-6 record and a 4.08 ERA. The team hasn’t fared well when he’s pitched, losing its last three games and five out of seven.

Cobb has made just six starts on the road. He’s compiled a 2-6 record and a 3.00 with home-field advantage but is just 1-0 with a 6.03 ERA on the road. He’s given up 15 earned runs in his last four away starts.

The Padres bat just .251 against him as a team. Manny Machado is just 5-for-28 against him (.174) but no other player on the team has had more than eight at-bats against Cobb.

It’s hard to know what we’ll get from Cobb if you’re looking at the MLB odds.

All-Star Musgrove Goes for Padres

Despite all of the nice moves the Padres made at the trade deadline, the team has been absolutely miserable. They were swept by the National League West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers and continue to struggle.

Soto is 6-for-20 with his new team while Brandon Drury is just 3-for-18 since coming over.

All-Star Joe Musgrove will be on the mound. He started the season out incredibly strong but has been slipping as of late. Once a perfect 8-0, he’s now at 8-5. However, his ERA is still strong at 3.00.

In general, the Padres haven’t really helped him out when he’s pitched at least one inning. San Diego has lost the last five games and seven of eight when Musgrove pitches at some point.

The Giants bat just .255 against Musgrove but they have found power against him. Joc Pederson has two home runs in 15 at-bats while Brandon Bell, Brandon Crawford and three others have also gone deep on him at least once.

Giants vs Padres Head-to-Head

The Padres have won six out of the 11 matchups against the Giants. However, the Giants have won three straight and have limited the Padres to just one run combined.

Giants vs Padres Prediction

Coming into this game, we are seeing the over-under get set at 7½ runs. The under looks like the better option here.

Musgrove might be struggling as of late but he’s been lights out when he’s locked in. As for Cobb, he might be getting a boost due to the Padres’ batting slump.

After all, they’ve been shut out in back-to-back games. The under seems likely to hit in this game, so take that with your MLB picks.
