Padres Looking to Build on Dramatic Win
The San Francisco Giants fell short to the San Diego Padres on Tuesday, losing 7-4 in a wild result. The Giants scored three in the top of the ninth to tie the game, but the Padres responded with a three-run homer in the bottom to walk it off.
San Francisco had won three straight games while the Padres had lost five straight games and were shut out in two of them entering the contest.
Could we get to see the Padres build upon their recent victory? Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds.
Junis Starting for Giants
Jakob Junis hits the mound for the San Francisco Giants in this one and he has been able to work his way to a 4-3 record with a 3.05 ERA. While the ERA looks decent, he’s not someone who goes deep into games.
Over his last seven outings, he’s pitched at least six innings just once. In his latest start, he lasted just 3.2 innings while giving up five hits and three earned runs.
Junis has been better on the road rather than at home. He’s 2-2 with a 1.78 ERA when traveling compared to his 2-1 record and 3.93 ERA with home field.
Junis pitched against the Padres earlier in the season, getting in six innings and allowing four runs in an 8-7 loss.
The Padres bat .326 against him as a team, which is concerning if you’re planning to bet online on the Giants. He’s faced 11 different Padres batters in his career and 10 have hits. Manny Machado, who hit the game-winning homer on Tuesday night, bats .667 against him.
Padres Finally Get Back on the Board
After 26 consecutive innings without a run, San Diego Padres finally broke the streak. It took them until the fourth inning on Tuesday but they quickly rallied off seven in total to get some momentum back.
Moving onto Wednesday’s game, the Padres are starting Sean Manaea. He’s compiled a 6-6 record on the year with a below average 4.74 ERA.
Manaea’s last game didn’t go so well. He went up against the league-leading Los Angeles Dodgers and allowed eight runs in four innings before being relieved.
He’s going to be searching for a bounce-back game to get on the right track again. The good news is the Giants bat just .167 against him. Brandon Crawford and Wilmer Flores both hit .313 or better. Everyone else is at .182 or worse.

Giants vs Padres Prediction
The Padres made some splashy trade deadline moves that had people excited about their future. Lately, their performances hadn’t been able to live up to those expectations, especially versus the MLB odds.
However, their win over the Giants on Tuesday could be the spark they need to jell down the stretch of the season.
Manaea could have a tough time against San Francisco, but it’s not as if Junis is anything special. The Padres should win but over is the best choice for your MLB picks.
