San Francisco On Two-Game Losing Streak
The San Francisco Giants try to snap a two-game losing skid when they visit the Colorado Rockies in the first of a three-game series between NL West division rivals Monday night. San Francisco dropped the final two games of a series against the homestanding St. Louis Cardinals, and is in third place in the NL West. Meanwhile, the Rockies have lost six of their last seven, now falling to the bottom of the division. Colorado trails the fourth-place Arizona Diamondbacks by a half-game. Both the Giants and Rockies need wins to keep pace with the division leaders, so this should be a good series. Check out our in-depth preview of the opener before deciding how to bet online.

Giants Ouf To Recapture First-Series Dominance
The San Francisco Giants earlier rolled through a three-game series between these two teams, averaging eight runs in dominating the visiting Colorado Rockies. That was in the midst of a six-game winning streak for the Giants, who now have dropped two games in a row. That included an ugly 15-6 setback Sunday night in St. Louis.
Lefthander Alex Wood will try to help the Giants turn things around, making his seventh start of the season Monday night. Wood is 3-2 with a 3.60 ERA, striking out 30 batters in 30 innings. Dominated the Rockies in his last outing this past Tuesday, he went 5⅓ innings, allowing an unearned run on seven hits while striking out four and walking two.
Shortstop Brandon Crawford has been off to a slow start, batting just .211. Crawford has five doubles, three home runs, 14 RBIs and 18 runs scored, though he went just 2-for-10 in the previous series against the Rockies.
Second baseman Wilmer Flores is pacing San Francisco with a .266 batting average and 19 RBIs. Flores has seven doubles, three home runs and 16 runs scored.
Rockies Trying To Keep Offense In High Gear
The Colorado Rockies dropped two of three to the visiting Kansas City Royals. It wasn’t from a lack of offense, as they averaged nine runs. Part of that offensive explosion was a season-high seven-run seventh inning in loss Sunday, helped in part by outfielder Randal Grichuk’s two-run single.
“A lot of guys had two strikes with their base hits, and it just showed us we’re trying to get the next man up, and we’ve got confidence in the next man,” Grichuk said of the inning following Sunday’s loss.
Grichuk’s slumping of late, going 0-for-18 over his last five games prior to the single. Grichuk is hitting .268, with three doubles, four home runs, 18 RBIs and 13 runs scored, and was key to the Rockies’ early-season success.
Also a key is the play of first baseman C.J. Cron, who had five hits over the three-game series. Cron is batting .305, with eight doubles, a triple, nine home runs, 25 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
Colorado will have rightt Antonio Senzatela on the mound for Monday’s opener. Senzatela is 2-2 with a 4.88 ERA over six starts. He lost against the San Francisco Giants Tuesday in his last start, lasting just 3⅔ innings and allowing five runs (seven hits), striking out one and walking two.
Giants vs Rockies Head-to-Head
The three-game sweep in last week’s series by the San Francisco Giants just continued their domination of their division rival from last season. In 2021, the Giants were 15-4 against Colorado, including 7-2 at Coors Field.
Colorado has won the season series at home against the Giants in four of the last six seasons. The MLB lines for Monday’s contest have the Giants continuing last week’s success, as the visitors are favored.

Giants vs Rockies Prediction
The Colorado Rockies should play better at Coors Field than they did at Oracle Park. It’s unfortunate that playing better at the plate hasn’t translated to the mound, and the San Francisco Giants should find some offensive pop in the series opener.
