Picks, Prediction for Guardians vs Twins on Friday, June 2

Guardians Hope to Cut Gap in AL Central

The Cleveland Guardians (25-31) and Minnesota Twins (30-27) meet on Friday for game two of a four-game series. According to MLB odds, the Guardians (+350) and Twins (-240) are the top favorites to win the American League Central, which is currently the weakest division in baseball.

After trailing 6-3, Minnesota engineered a comeback to win game one 7-6. Willi Castro hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to secure the come-from-behind win. The Twins’ lead in the AL Central continues to grow with a 2.5-game cushion. Will Cleveland turnaround around the series, shaving the Twins’ lead?

Ramirez Carrying Load for Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians have been one of the worst hitting teams in the majors, ranking 29th in runs per game. Third baseman Jose Ramirez, who is slashing .277/.346/.461, is getting little help. In fact, he leads the team in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. Ramirez remains a reliable bet for your MLB picks and parlays, as he is riding a seven-game hitting streak.

Twins Looking to Go Yard

The Minnesota Twins are 3-1 over the last four games, including a 2-1 series win over the Houston Astros. The Twins have also scored at least seven runs in three of the last four games. They are one of the best slugging teams in baseball at 1.33 home runs per game (seventh). After going yard twice on Thursday, look for Minnesota to launch more long balls. First baseman Joey Gallo is a good choice for MLB betting as he leads the team with 11 homers.

Starting Pitchers

Aaron Civale (1-1, 2.84 ERA) vs. Bailey Ober (3-2, 2.68)

Aaron Civale has been out since the first week of April with an oblique injury. Over his two starts, he is carrying career-best numbers with 2.84 ERA and 1.026 WHIP. Plus, Civale has yet to allow a home run. Minnesota heavily relies on dingers, ranking 23rd in batting average. However, this is a small sample size for Civale, and he could show rust after missing nearly two months of action.

Bailey Ober also missed a portion of the season, but he has been back since the last week of April. The third-year pitcher currently has career-best numbers with a 2.68 ERA and 1.017 WHIP. However, the Twins have lost their last two games with Ober on the mound. He pitched well in his last appearance with seven strikeouts, one walk and two earned runs in five innings. Minnesota has totaled one combined run in his last two starts. Will the Twins’ bats finally show up for Ober? MLB lines have Minnesota’s projected total at four.

Guardians vs Twins Head-to-Head

Cleveland is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings, but the matchup is split at 3-3 in the last six games. In Ober’s last two starts in the rivalry, Minnesota went 1-1 and 2-0 against MLB spreads.

Guardians vs Twins Betting Lines

Over/Under Pick

The under is 7-3 in the last 10 matchups. Look for the under to hit yet again. Civale could be a tough matchup for the Twins. Last season, Civale did a good job of limiting homers with 14 in 20 starts. So far, he has carried it over to the 2023 season. Plus, Ober has pitched well, and the Guardians are struggling to consistently score.

Pick: Under 8½ (-115)

Moneyline Pick

Las Vegas odds are favoring the Twins at -133. However, Cleveland is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings. If the long ball is taken away from Minnesota, it struggles to score. A low-scoring game favors the Guardians’ underwhelming batting order. Take Cleveland at +123 for a nice payout.

Pick: Cleveland Guardians ML (+123)
