Guardians Look To Give White Sox Problems
At the beginning of the season, the Chicago White Sox were the favorites to win the American League Central, according to the MLB betting odds. As the season winds down, they are currently 5½ games back in the Wild Card race and four back of the Cleveland Guardians in the division.
A win over the Guardians in Tuesday night’s series opener will certainly help the White Sox’s chances of closing that gap down and still manage to salvage their preseason goals.
The problem is that Cleveland has been on a tear lately. The Guardians are 10-2 in their last 12 games overall entering this series.
Which of these division rivals will be able to net themselves a huge win here and cash on the MLB odds?
Guardians Putting it all Together
Winners of 10 of 12, the Guardians have flown up the standings to almost claim the division. Another solid week and it’ll be theirs.
The Cleveland Guardians have been able to stack up the wins by taking a methodical approach to both pitching and batting. They currently rank eighth in the league in team ERA at 3.57 coming into this contest.
When it comes to offense, they are 10th in batting average. The downside is that they’ve been unable to consistently crank the ball out of the park. Cleveland has only smashed 113 balls out of the park, putting them in 29th place in the league.
Ramirez has 28 jacks but no other player has more than 17. If the Guardians want to keep this September run going into October, they’ll need a bit more power.
White Sox Rolling Out Cease
The Chicago White Sox are going to be starting Dylan Cease for this game and that’s definitely a good omen for their chances of winning. He’s posted the eighth-best record in the league at 14-7. He also has posted the third-best ERA at 2.16 and the fourth-most strikeouts with 214.
The main challenge for Cease is getting run support. He’s allowed just 13 earned runs over his last seven starts, yet the team is just 3-4 in those games. They scored 27 runs in two of his wins, but have totaled just 12 in the other five outings.
Cease has taken the mound against the Guardians already this season, so we have some intel to work with for our MLB picks. The most recent was a 6-3 Chicago victory that saw him go six innings.
During those six innings, he allowed seven hits and zero runs. However, the Guardians have hit .293 against him lifetime. Amed Rosario, Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez are all above .300 against him. That could lead to a good day for Cleveland.

Guardians vs White Sox Prediction
These two squads have been very close and this game isn’t expected to be any different, especially with Cease on the mound.
Chicago has a lot of confidence in Cease, though it is going to have to work against a hot Guardians squad that is flying down the stretch of the regular season. And the Guardians haven’t had many problems with Cease.
The best plays in the sportsbook here look like the Guardians on the side and the under on the total.
