Inside Edge: 3 MLB Player Props You Can’t Miss Tonight

After back-to-back days with small slates, we have a beautiful schedule of MLB games on tap for Friday. The season is still young, and there is plenty to learn about each team, but our consistently profitable MLB picks are here to deliver. Our best MLB player prop bets went 2-1 on Monday and 2-2 on Tuesday, showing the potential for big wins. I’m looking to kick off the weekend with a sweep tonight. So, let’s start cooking with our best MLB bets today.

Friday’s MLB schedule features 15 matchups, including some marquee showdowns. Notably, the Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers begin a three-game series. The surprising Royals will look to stay hot when they face the promising young Baltimore Orioles squad. The series many of us will have eyes on is the Yankees hosting the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-game set in the Bronx. There are plenty of options for MLB player props today, but I’ve done the hard work of narrowing down the best MLB bets for you here.

Best MLB Player Props Today

1. Rays SP Tyler Alexander Over 4½ Hits Allowed (-173)

The Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees will face off for the first time this season on Friday evening. The Yankees enter this matchup with the best record in MLB at 13-6, and the Rays trail them at 11-9. New York returned home on Thursday following their second extended road trip of the young season. The Yankees offense should come into this series with a ton of confidence after mourning a 9th-inning comeback win over the Toronto Blue Jays in their last game.

The Yankees lineup is built differently than in years past. They are striking out at a much lower rate and own the third-highest OBP in baseball. Tampa will send left-hander Tyler Alexander to the mound tonight. The 29-year-old has a small sample size against the meat of the order of this Yankees lineup, allowing six hits in 16 at-bats against the likes of Gleyber Torres, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo, and Alex Verdugo. Alexander has established himself in the Rays rotation early, so we can expect him to throw at least 80 pitches. He has allowed at least six hits in all three starts this season, and I would be comfortable taking this at 5.5 hits allowed. Bank on the Bronx Bombers at the sportsbook!

2. Phillies SS Trea Turner Over 1½ Total Bases (+102)

The Philadelphia Phillies welcome the Chicago White Sox to town to begin a three-game set. I expect the Phillies to Ring the Bell quite often in this series, starting with tonight’s matchup. The White Sox will send promising lefty Garrett Crochet to the bump tonight. Philadelphia’s bats aren’t off to a scorching start, but Trea Turner has been one of the few guys consistently producing. The White Sox pitching provides a tremendous get-right spot for the Phillies lineup as a whole. Crochet performed well through his first three starts but came back to Earth in his fourth against the Reds, allowing five ER in 4.2 innings of work.

Turner is off to a strong start this season with a .329 BA and .872 OPS. He has at least one hit in 15 of 19 games this season and has reached two total bases in 11 of his last 16 games. He has hit this line in five consecutive games and is one of the hottest hitters in the National League. Trust Turner to smash tonight.

3. Red Sox SP Brayan Bello Over 4½ Strikeouts (-167)

Our third and final player prop pick comes from the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates clash. Bryan Bello will toe the rubber for the Red Sox tonight. This will be his fifth start of the year, and the 24-year-old is poised to continue a breakout season. This is his third season in MLB after he made 28 starts for Boston last season. He has thrown well in all four starts and has shown his ability to battle through tough situations. He threw 107 pitches in his previous outing, so he’s been working up to his full strength.

Bello has finished with 8, 3, and 6 strikeouts through his last three outings. He has yet to face the Buccos, but Andrew McCutchen and Rowdy Tellez have combined for four at-bats and 3 strikeouts against him. Pittsburgh has the fourth-most strikeouts in MLB as just one of four teams averaging double-digit strikeouts per game. The Pirates are tied with the sixth-highest whiff rate in the league alongside the Seattle Mariners. Bello’s slider has become a disgusting out-pitch for him this season. Expect him to continue to utilize that pitch and finish tonight’s game with at least five K’s.
