Mariners One Win From the Division Series

Ray Looks To Send Former Team Packing

Robbie Ray will try to follow the lead of teammate Luis Castillo Saturday when the Seattle Mariners face the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 2 of the American League Wild Card series on Saturday.

Castillo shut down one of the top offenses in the majors Friday to put the Mariners one win away from the Division Series and Ray will look to finish the job against the team he pitched for last season.

Ray threw in a clunker in his last start but was solid for most of the final two months of the regular season. If he can avoid giving up the long ball, something he did 32 times this season, he can be an effective pitcher.

He was solid in his lone start this season against the Blue Jays, a team he went 13-7 and won the American League Cy Young Award for last season, giving up three hits and one earned run over six innings in a no decision in early July.

Let’s check the latest MLB odds, stats, injury reports, and MLB lines for Mariners vs Blue Jays. We’ve plenty of MLB Vegas odds for you to consider. As well explore a variety of other MLB odds here to win!

Blue Jays Offense Won’t Stay Down Long

Only three teams averaged more runs than the Blue Jays’ 4.78 runs this season, but their offense looked lost against Castillo, who threw 72.2% of his pitches for strikes.

The Blue Jays managed seven hits, with four of those coming from George Springer and Matt Chapman, and one extra base hit.

Facing Ray offers them the chance of getting back on track via the long ball. The Blue Jays have five players with 24 or more home runs this season, including 32 roundtrippers from Vladimir Guerrero, Jr.

Teoscar Hernandez has been one of the team’s top hitters against left handers as he has batted .286 with eight home runs and 20 RBIs in 91 at bats lefties. Hernandez was 13th in MLB in wRC+ (175) and fourth in isolated power (.363) against lefties, finishing ahead of Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees in both categories.

Raleigh Hits Another Big Homer for Mariners

The legend of Cal Raleigh continues to grow after the catcher hit another big home run for the Mariners in Friday’s win.

The 25-year-old, who had a pinch-hit homer last week to help the Mariners clinch a postseason bid, had a two-run shot in the first inning off Toronto ace Alek Manoah. He had 27 homers in the regular season and this was his first in the postseason.

“You know, there were times when we were lacking offense and he carried us,” Mariners’ closer Paul Sewald told the media of Raleigh, who set the team record for homers in a season by a catcher. “I swear he only hits homers in the biggest moments, and they’ve been incredible.” Not bad for a guy who seemed destined for another season in the minors after hitting under .150 with four home runs combined in April and May.

Mariners vs Blue Jays Head-to-Head

The Mariners have won six straight games against the Blue Jays, outscoring them 30-12 in the process. This is the first postseason series between Seattle and Toronto.

Seattle’s dominance over Toronto doesn’t just include this season as it is 14-6 against the Blue Jays over the last four seasons, including 6-3 at Toronto.

Mariners vs Blue Jays Prediction

The MLB playoff odds have the Blue Jays as big favorites on the money line with Kevin Gausman taking the ball. The right-hander won’t beat himself — he has allowed just 28 walks on the season – but has looked hittable over the last month. Take the Mariners to clinch.

The under is 6-2 in eight games between the Mariners and Blue Jays this season.
