Picks, Prediction for Mariners vs Rangers on Friday, June 2

Texas Looks to Keep Control in AL West

The Texas Rangers are on top of the American League West, which is surprising to most sportsbooks. They will face the Seattle Mariners in a three-game series starting on Friday, the fourth team in the division, despite being two games over .500.

With how the Rangers have been playing, it is hard not to side with them in MLB lines, especially after the Mariners struggled in the last series. However, both teams will have one of their best pitchers on the mound in Game 1.

Picks, Prediction for Mariners vs Rangers on Friday, June 2

Mariners’ Pitching Shocked

At home, the New York Yankees rocked Seattle’s pitching staff. In the first two games of the last series, the Mariners gave up 10 runs in each. That surely did not help their MLB odds heading into this next series against the Rangers, who have one of the best lineups.

The good thing is that the starters are the ones that struggled, giving up 13 of the 20 runs. Besides Bryce Miller, who is scheduled to pitch the series’ final game against the Rangers, the Mariners should be in a better position with more consistent starters on the mound. Seattle shut out the Yankees in the final game, winning in extra innings, but the series had already been lost.

Rangers’ Offense Keeps Rolling

The Rangers have continued to look like one of the better teams, making them a good option for MLB picks and parlays. The offense has been a massive factor in the team’s success, especially with Marcus Semien headlining MLB news with his 20-game hit streak.

Texas did lose the final game against the Detroit Tigers to miss out on the sweep, but it did put up 15 runs in the first two games. Over the last 15 days, the Rangers have put up the second-most runs in the league.

Starting Pitchers

Luis Castillo (4-2, 2.69 ERA) vs Jon Gray (5-1, 2.81)

Neither team has an advantage here, with two solid pitchers on the mound. For the Mariners, Luis Castillo will get the start. While he did struggle in his first three starts in May, allowing four, three, and five runs, Castillo closed out the month well. In his last two appearances, he went six innings in each start, giving up zero runs and combining for 18 strikeouts.

On the other side, Jon Gray will take the mound for the Rangers. His month has been nearly pure domination, with a 1.95 ERA, 29 strikeouts, and 32.1 innings over five starts. If it weren’t for one poor start with 5.1 innings and four runs allowed, his stats would be much better. In Gray’s other four starts during May, he has allowed one run or fewer.

Mariners vs Rangers Head-to-Head

Last season, the Mariners dominated this matchup with a 14-5 record. However, the Rangers won the first series this season, 2-1, with every game hitting the under, which is a surprise.

Mariners vs Rangers Betting Lines

Over/Under Pick

Given how good the Rangers’ offense has been, taking the over tends to be a solid bet for MLB picks. However, this might be the outlier, with both teams having solid pitching on the mound. Castillo and Gray have been dominant recently.

Pick: Under 8½ (-120)

Moneyline Pick

With the pitching matchup even, the Rangers still have the advantage offensively. Eventually, Taxes’ hot offense will push some runs across to win. The game could still be close, but the Rangers should win with the additional help of being at home.

Pick: Texas Rangers +115
