Looking Up in Division
The Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies are both playing good baseball right now, going 7-3 and 9-1 in their last 10 games, respectively. The only problem is that the New York Mets have a healthy lead and the Atlanta Braves are on an 11-game winning streak currently. The Marlins and Phillies, meanwhile, are fighting for their lives to stay relevant in the National League East. Which team will come out on top?
Let’s check the latest MLB picks, stats, injury reports and MLB odds for Marlins vs Phillies. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions.
Marlins Not Done Yet
The Miami Marlins are 11 games out of first place in the NL East, but they are a long way from being out of it. There are still outside hopes of being contenders. They showed that last week, even taking two of three games from the Houston Astros over the weekend.
The Marlins’ pitching staff has started to falter after its hot start, leveling out to a mediocre standing, which is about what coincides with their sub-.500 record. But their offense has started coming to life more as of late, which helps balance the ship for the Marlins. Now if they could put the two together, they could start moving forward.
They will be matched up against the Phillies, who have on a torrid run in the last 10 games. Miami will have Sandy Alcantara on the mound, who has pitched well enough to push his name into the hat as a possible NL Cy Young contender. He will looked to stay locked in against the Phillies.
Phillies’ Win Streak Snapped
The Philadelphia Phillies have come a long way in a short period of time. After the firing of manager, Joe Girardi, it looked like the Phillies were a dumpster fire waiting to happen. But the exact opposite happened. The Phillies reeled off nine wins in a row before it was snapped Sunday in a 13-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Still, the Phils find themselves sitting at .500 with some hope left in the tank.
Unfortunately for the Phillies, the Atlanta Braves have been even hotter in that same stretch and have jumped out to 3½-game lead over them for second and are still nine games back of the NL East leading Mets.
Aaron Nola will toe the rubber for the Phillies on Monday night, looking to keep his run of strong starts going. The offense is doing its job, now the pitching staff needs to back them up and continue nailing down wins.
Marlins vs Phillies Head-to-Head
At roughly 60 games into the season, this will only be the second series between the NL East rivals. They played a four-game series right at the beginning of the season that saw the Marlins take a 3-1 lead on their home turf.
With both teams being hot right now, these games could go either way. The Phillies have a little bit more fire in the tank at this point than the Marlins. And playing on their home field could be just want the Phillies need to take this series.

Marlins vs Phillies Prediction
With the Phillies being red hot right now, it is no surprise to find the sportsbooks have them as the favorite at -134. But the Marlins have their own case to make with Alcantara on the mound.
The MLB lines are showing a strong betting position for the Phillies against the runline at +155, which would be good if they weren’t facing one of the best pitchers in the National League. Best to stay away from that even with it being so enticing.
When you bet online, take the moneyline win by the Marlins at +118 as Alcantara will shut down the Phillies.
