Let’s check the latest MLB news, stats, injury reports and MLB odds for Marlins vs Reds. We’ve plenty of MLB picks & predictions.
Marlins Level Series
The Miami Marlins started their series with the Cincinnati Reds with a rough outing in an 11-2 rout. But Tuesday was a completely different story, with Pablo Lopez going seven innings and allowing just one run on two hits to help Miami even the series with a 2-1 victory.
“That was really fun,” Lopez said after Tuesday’s win. “It has been awhile since I felt that good. That’s one of those starts I really needed. It’s a good start to build on.”
Looking to build on it on Wednesday will be left-hander Braxton Garrett, who will make his 10th start. Garrett is 2-3 with a 3.42 ERA this season, striking out 47 in 47.1 innings. He’s coming off a pair of solid outings – both against the Pittsburgh Pirates – as he went a combined 12 innings and allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out 18.
Shortstop Joey Wendle was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs in Tuesday’s win for Miami. Wendle is batting .300 with 11 doubles, two home runs, 20 RBIs and 14 runs scored in 49 games.
Outfielder Avisail Garcia was 2-for-4 in Tuesday’s contest. Garcia is batting .234 with eight doubles, seven home runs, 30 RBis and 28 runs scored this season.
Reds: More Inconsistency
The Cincinnati Reds have shown some offensive potential, taking two of three from the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend and racking up 11 runs in the first game of the series against the Miami Marlins. But they also show games of having no offensive punch at all, as seen on Tuesday with the one run scored in the loss to Miami.
Mike Moustakas’ solo home run was the only scoring play for the Reds in the loss. The veteran designated hitter was 1-for-3 in the contest to raise his average to .212 with 11 doubles, six home runs, 21 RBIs and 26 runs scored in 66 games.
Third baseman Brandon Drury was 0-for-4 in the contest, ending his three-game hitting streak. Drury is batting .271 with 20 doubles, two triples, 19 home runs, 57 RBIs and 59 runs scored.
Right-hander Luis Castillo will make his 14th start in Wednesday’s contest. Castillo is 3-4 with a 2.77 ERA, striking out 82 in 78 innings. He has been brilliant of late, throwing a combined 27 innings over his last four starts and allowing a total of three earned runs while striking out 33.
Marlins vs Reds Head-To-Head
The Cincinnati Reds have dominated the season series with the Miami Marlins over the last two seasons they’ve played each other (they didn’t play in 2020), going 11-3 in that span. Miami had won the previous four season series, but Cincinnati turned it around starting in 2019.
Over the last two seasons, Cincinnati went unbeaten against Miami at Great American Ball Park, winning all seven matchups. The MLB lines for Wednesday’s game have the expectation of that success continuing, with the Reds favored to bounce back with a win.

Marlins vs Reds Prediction
The Miami Marlins didn’t exactly have a lot of offense in Tuesday’s win, and now they face a very hot pitcher in Castillo. That’s trouble for Miami and good news for the Cincinnati Reds, who should have more than enough to pull out a victory in this one.
When doing your MLB betting, take Cincinnati to win at home.
