New York Kicks Off NL East Series at Miami

Mets Need Pick-Me-Up

The New York Mets still hold a four-game lead in the National League East, but that advantage is not comfortable for them and the state of their roster right now.

The Marlins are still floundering in fourth place, but they are on a three-game winning streak and looking to stay hot. The Mets need a strong weekend, but the Marlins will try to help the rest of the NL East by getting in their way.

Let’s check the latest MLB picks, stats, injury reports and MLB odds for Mets vs Marlins. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions.

Mets Slipping?

Nobody, especially New York Mets fans, want to admit that the crazy hot start to the season they had might be on the verge of crashing and burning.

What was once a very promising starting rotation is now plagued by injuries, with Carlos Carrasco being the latest starter to go down with an injury. Max Scherzer is on his way back, but he is still a little ways off from rejoining the rotation.

The Mets are still raking at the plate, but the pitching is depleted. And many are wondering how long their replacement starters can continue to find the magic that is allowing them to keep winning.

The worry that New York has now is that the Atlanta Braves have found their groove and have been reeling in the Mets, cutting their lead to four games at the moment. The Mets need to continue playing well enough to stay ahead of the Braves and stay as consistent as possible. Taking three wins this weekend would go a long way in helping with that this weekend.

Marlins Sweep the Rockies

The Miami Marlins completed their sweep of the Colorado Rockies on Thursday night, which was impressive considering that the visitors had been on a roll coming into that series.

While the Marlins are not having the best MLB season overall, their young core of players is starting to perform and they need to continue to build on that for the future.

Now, even though the Marlins might be 11½ games out of first place in the NL East are are probably going to have a hard time making that up, they have a role to play.

They can definitely be that of a spoiler in the NL East. Improving their young core and working towards playing good baseball should always be the main objective, but they can have a chip on their shoulder too.

Mets vs Marlins Head-to-Head

This will be the fifth of 19 games in the season series. The Mets lead the series 3-1.

Mets vs Marlins Prediction

The sportsbooks have the Marlins as the favorite in this game at -140, mostly due to Sandy Alcantara being on the mound for Miami. He is turning in a truly amazing year. The Mets still have their high-powered offense to contend with but are +125 underdogs with Taijuan Walker on the mound.

The MLB lines show a strong betting opportunity for the Marlins to cover the runline at +155. But there is doubt that Miami’s offense can outpace the Mets at a high enough rate to make that happen.

The Mets will step up in this game and figure out Alcantara to pull off an upset win.

When you bet online, take the moneyline win by the Mets at +125.
