Miami’s Vice

Miami can’t hit the broadside of a barn. The Marlins have been limited to two runs or fewer in four consecutive games and five of their last six overall. Starling Marte Jr. went 2-for-4 with one RBI and Jorge Alfaro had two hits, but Miami finished with just seven hits overall. Sandy Alcantara allowed four runs on nine hits through six innings.

“You want to throw a perfect pitch. I just missed a little bit, hung my slider,” Alcantara said of Guerrero’s homer. “He won the fight. I tried to get an out, maybe a strikeout. But he swung the bat pretty well today.”

On Wednesday, Maimi will hand the ball to Pablo Lopez. The right-hander limited Philadelphia to two runs on four hits with five strikeouts in his last start. The 25-year-old Venezuelan has not allowed more than two earned runs in three straight starts and five of his last six starts overall.

Vlad The Impaler

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had his first career four-hit performance to lead Toronto to the emphatic win on Tuesday. Guerrero Jr. doubled in the first, hit a three-run homer in the third, and added two singles. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had three hits, including a massive solo home.

“He’s locked in,” said manager Charlie Montoyo, of the 22-year-old star, who leads the majors in home runs with 17. “He’s one of the best hitters in baseball right now. That’s not easy to do, what he’s doing right now, especially against a guy like they had tonight. He’s got good stuff, some of the best stuff I’ve seen all year. Vladdy just sees a slider and takes him out to left, then a line drive to right. He’s fun to watch.”

Highly touted prospect Alek Manoah makes his second start for Toronto. The right-hander dominated the Yankees with six shutout innings in his debut on Sunday. Manoah struck out seven and walked two in his big league debut in the Bronx.

Jays Complete Quick Sweep

The Marlins are 1-7 in their last eight interleague games against a right-handed starter and 0-4 in their last four games overall. The Blue Jays are 5-0 in their last five games against a right-handed starter and 6-0 in their last six games against a team with a losing record.

Toronto has won eight of the last 11 meetings while going 5-1 against Miami in its last six home dates against the Marlins. Don’t think twice about this pick baseball bettors. The Blue Jays get it done to cover the run line.

Pick: Toronto -1½ (+120)
