Dark Knight to Propel Orioles Over Twins

Can Harvey keep Baltimore’s momentum intact?

The Baltimore Orioles snapped a lengthy losing streak when beating the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. Matt Harvey is now entrusted with the ball to keep the hope alive for the home side.

The Dark Knight isn’t as deadly as he used to be, but his experience could help Baltimore slowly drag itself off the bottom of the American League East division.

Minnesota rarely loses to the Orioles, so it will be keen to get back on the horse.

Drought is Over

Baltimore finally broke its 14-game losing streak and although it’s unlikely to turn the season around, it’s a step in the right direction.

Tuesday’s 7-4 win over Minnesota went against what bookmakers expected, which was for the Twins to continue their domination of the Orioles. However, it was the home side that attacked the Twins from the outset.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told the media that his team looks overmatched.

“This is hard,” Hyde told the Baltimore Sun. “There’s no doubt about it. This is very, very challenging. This is very difficult. It’s frustrating, and embarrassing at times. We want to be able to compete in the big leagues.

“I knew taking the job was going to be a lot of work and it was going to be a rebuilding process. I did understand that. I’m frustrated a little bit because you want to give the fans of Baltimore something to look forward to and something to hang their hat on, something to be positive about.”

He will have positive vibes after Tuesday’s win and having the experienced Matt Harvey on the mound should help. Harvey is only 3-6 with an ERA of 6.84, but his veteran presence could make the difference on a struggling Orioles roster.

Harvey has been leaking runs of late, including five runs from three innings against the Chicago White Sox. However, three of his last four games have come on the road.

Twins Lose First vs Orioles

Tuesday’s loss was the first this season for the Twins when facing Baltimore. They were a perfect 4-0 prior to the loss, but will now need to rebuild.

It has been a common theme for the Twins, who have struggled as favorites. MLB betting lines have framed this game close, so we’re expecting a tight game.

Inconsistencies have plagued the Twins, who have failed to win consecutive games in the last week. They haven’t scored consecutive wins since beating Baltimore in three straight, so a bounce-back wouldn’t surprise.

Randy Dobnak is on the mound for the Twins. The 26-year-old has had a tough sophomore year after going 1-4 with an ERA of 6.49. He was elevated from a reliever role against Cleveland when producing a six-inning gem.

Dobnak allowed only three hits and no runs in the 10-0 win but followed it up with a six-run outing against the Royals. There is still time for the right-hand pitcher to find his groove and facing the Orioles lineup won’t worry him.

Following the loss, the Twins are now 6-1 in their last seven games in Baltimore and 35-17 in the last 52 meetings overall.

They are 5-1 in the last six against AL East teams and 5-1 against a right-handed starter.

However, they are 2-6 in their last eight Wednesday games and 2-5 in the last seven during game three of the series.

Even with Tuesday’s win, the Orioles have no positive betting trends. They are 21-43 in the last 64 game threes, which is about the best betting trend you will find for the Orioles.

They are 0-5 vs a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30, but bettors get value with the online sportsbook and they’re due for back-to-back wins.

The under is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings in Baltimore, but with two expensive pitchers on the mound, we can see the total soaring over.

Twins vs Orioles Pick

Betting on the Orioles isn’t easy, but we’re expecting Harvey to return to his best form.

It will require plenty of run support, but after scoring seven runs against a tough pitcher, they should have confidence.

This is an Orioles outfit that is capable of breaking the shackles and, because of their poor record, bettors often get value odds with bookmakers.

Pick: Baltimore Orioles +125
