The National League ended an eight-game losing streak in the MLB All-Star Game with a 3-2 win in the 2023 game. Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the National League the 3-2 lead. Craig Kimbrel struck out Jose Ramirez with the winning run on base to give the National League its first All-Star win since 2012.

Bryce Harper, Alec Bohm, and Trea Turner give the Phillies three of the four starting infielders for the National League.

Betting Options for the 2024 MLB All-Star Game

According to MLB news, the National League announced that Pittsburgh Pirates rookie Paul Skenes, the top pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, will be the starting pitcher.

The game is set for 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday and will air on FOX.

Pete Alonso is the favorite in our odds to win the Home Run Derby at +300, followed by Marcell Ozuna of the Atlanta Braves and Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles.

Youth Is Served

There are some familiar faces and names in the starting lineup with the American League starters including Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, Vladimir Guerrero of the Toronto Blue Jays, and Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians while Philadelphia’s Harper and Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers are among the veterans in the lineup for the National League.

There are also some rising stars in the game.

The American League shortstop is Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles, who recently turned 23. Baltimore’s 26-year-old Adley Rutschman will be the first Orioles catcher to start the All-Star Game since 1987.

MLB batting leader Steven Kwan of the Cleveland Guardians is also 26. The starting catcher for the National League is 26-year-old William Contreras.

Cleveland’s Emmanuel Clase, Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox, Kansas City’s Cole Ragans, Oakland’s Mason Miller, and Seattle’s Andres Munoz are the American League pitchers who are 26 or younger.

Cincinnati’s Hunter Greene joins Skenes as young arms on the National League staff. Cincinnati shortstop Elly De La Cruz, Washington shortstop C.J. Abrams, and Kansas City shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. are other youngsters to keep an eye on. Witt is priced at +160 BetUS MLB odds to have the longest home run in Monday’s home run derby.

All Eyes on the MVPs

While former American League or National League Most Valuable Players Ronald Acuna Jr., Mookie Betts, and Mike Trout are all injured, there will be former MVPs in the mid-summer classic.

There should be an electric atmosphere when Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, who leads the majors with 34 home runs, steps into the batter’s box to face Skenes in the first inning.

Shohei Ohtani won two of the last three American League MVP awards. However, the Los Angeles Dodgers star will be on the other team.

Harper and Yelich are other MVPs in the starting lineup for either the American League or the National League.

Most Deserving Non-Starters

The All-Star game remains a popularity contest and MLB betting fans will see starters who aren’t always the ones enjoying the best seasons.

Rafael Devers of the Boston Red Sox is third in the American League in OPS and could easily be the third baseman in the starting lineup. Oakland’s Brent Rooker probably should be a starter.

Marcel Ozuna of the Atlanta Braves is leading the National League with 77 RBIs, but he has the misfortune of playing the same position as Ohtani.
