Today’s Top 2 MLB Player Props
1. Braves SP Spencer Schwellenbach 6+ Strikeouts
The Atlanta Braves have dealt with several injuries to their stars this season, but some unexpected help from several starting pitchers has kept them in World Series contention. Among the unexpected help is rookie Spencer Schwellenbach, who toes the slab for the Braves on Wednesday night when they battle the Cincinnati Reds. Atlanta has lost three straight, including the series opener against the Reds, and has dropped two games back for the final NL Wild Card spot.
Their backs are against the wall and will send the 24-year-old right-hander to stop the bleeding. He has posted a 108 Pitching+ in 18 outings, tied for the second-highest among all starters. Over the last month, his numbers have taken a slight dip, but his last five starts have come against some of the better lineups in the league: the Dodgers, Twins, and Phillies (twice).

Schwellenbach has finished with at least six strikeouts in 12 of his last 15 starts! Tonight, he faces a Reds squad that is ripe for the picking.
The Reds are tied with the 6th-highest K % this season. Cincy is eighth in Whiff %. Schwellenbach is in the 78th percentile K % and 94th percentile in BB %! The Reds have the seventh-best BB % in the league, so this is key for the rookie to pitch deep into the game. His ability to limit walks will award him ample opportunity to reach six strikeouts.
The Reds lineup has struggled even more over the last couple months, ranking in the league’s bottom half in nearly every significant offensive category! For our first MLB prediction, we’re trusting Schwelly to produce.

2. Cardinals SP Sonny Gray 7+ Strikeouts
We’ll be clear. We wanted to roll out the Dodgers in some capacity against Ryan Weathers, but we’ll stick with a familiar face that has continuously delivered for us in 2024. I’m firing on another strikeout prop with our second MLB pick today. The Cardinals send 34-year-old righty Sonny Gray to the bump.

Gray has greatly respected our money this season and will do the job for us again. He finished as the runner-up for AL Cy Young in 2023 and has quietly been one of the most consistent pitchers in the NL in 2024. He has spent most of the season in the top 10 in NL Cy Young odds and was one of the biggest All-Star snubs. He is coming off three terrific outings against the Reds, Brewers, and Padres.

Gray has thrown the ball exceptionally well, posting a 13-9 record with a 3.75 ERA (3.71 xERA) and a 1.07 WHIP. He has a 105 Pitching+ (tied for 4th best in MLB) and a 111 Stuff+ (tied for 7th best in MLB). Gray has been the consistent arm all clubs desire at the front end of their starting rotations. He is in the 77th percentile in Whiff % and 91st in K %. Gray has reached at least six strikeouts in 13 of his last 14 and 23 of his 27 starts overall! This MLB bet comes in at seven strikeouts, a number he has reached in three of his last four starts and 14 of 27 outings overall.
He’s posted career-high marks in xERA and K-BB% with St. Louis. Since his disastrous season with the Yankees in 2018, he has finished above the league average in K/BB ratio. He will face a Pirates lineup with the seventh-highest K% since the All-Star break. Pittsburgh is sixth overall in K % this season.
Gray has been terrific at Busch Stadium, posting a 2.56 ERA across 15 games compared to a 5.20 ERA on the road in 12 games. The Pirates lineup has struggled against Gray, who struck out nine times in his lone start against them back in June. Therefore, we’re riding Gray with confidence at BetUS Sportsbook.
