2 Best MLB Player Prop Bets for Sept. 3
1. Braves SP Chris Sale 9+ Strikeouts (-152)

I expect many bettors to be on the Sale train tonight, which makes me wary, but he’s been terrific. I’m hoisting the Sale again in his start against the Colorado Rockies. Chris Sale has been a revelation for the Atlanta Braves in 2024.
He has finished with at least nine strikeouts in 12 of his 25 outings (48% of starts) and 12 of his last 20 overall. Sale has a 2.58 ERA and is in the 95th percentile in xERA. He has a 1.02 WHIP and is in the 95th percentile in K % and 85th in Whiff %! According to our odds to win the NL Cy Young Award, the hardware is Sale’s to lose. He’s well on his way to completing one of the greatest comeback seasons in recent memory.
The 35-year-old is finally healthy again and could be the difference maker to get the Braves into the playoffs. He gets a great matchup with the Rockies, who have struggled against lefties. Colorado has the highest K% in MLB since the break and is 28th in wRC+ against lefties this season.
The Rockies have the second-highest K% against lefties, behind only Boston. I expect Sale to shove again tonight.
Tarik Skubal and Chris Sale still lead the way in the latest Pitcher Power Rankings.

2. Rockies SP Kyle Freeland 6+ Hits Allowed (-154)
We will double up down in Atlanta and fade the Rockies in a second way. Colorado will send 31-year-old Kyle Freeland to the rubber on Friday night. Colorado is out of contention and is already looking forward to the offseason. The Rockies own the second-worst record in the entire league (51-87), behind only the White Sox (31-108)!
Meanwhile, the Braves are in the thick of the NL Wild Card race and currently hold the third spot. Atlanta has dealt with a litany of injuries that disrupted its season, but it is still battling with a veteran group. Atlanta currently lacks Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley. A date with Freeland to begin the week is what the Braves need to get the offense clicking early this month.

The Braves are tied with the fourth-best wRC+ against left-handers this season. Atlanta is much better at home, with just a .233 batting average on the road compared to .251 at home.
Freeland has made nine starts against Atlanta (once this season Aug 11), where he allowed three earned runs on four hits in just 3.2 innings. He’s allowed at least six hits in five of his last eight starts against the Braves.
The Braves have some of the most dangerous hitters in MLB against lefties this season, including Marcell Ozuna (.317 vs. LHP). The left-hander has finished with at least six hits allowed in 11 of his 16 starts. He is in the 5th percentile in xBA and 13th in xERA!
It’s been a nightmare season for the Rockies, and we can trust the Braves to continue to battle for a Wild Card spot. Freeland’s numbers are glaringly bad. He was in the 6th percentile in xBA dating back to the start of last season. Fade Freeland and watch him allow at least six hits. Include him in your MLB player prop bets tonight.
