With spring training just around the corner, MLB fans and bettors alike are scouring win totals, looking for teams poised to beat the MLB odds in 2025. Whether chasing value or trying to prove you’re smarter than the sportsbooks, this year’s MLB win totals have some juicy opportunities.

From the woeful White Sox trying to be less woeful to the Cubs aiming to remind us why they belong in October, there’s something for everyone.
We’ve already looked at the teams that we think will go under their projected win totals. Now let’s dive into five teams we’re laying our MLB predictions on to go over their win totals in 2025.
5 MLB Teams to Go Over Win Totals
1. Chicago White Sox: Over 52.5 Wins (-140)
Sure, the White Sox were historically bad in 2024, but 53 wins? That’s a glorified participation trophy.
The odds at BetUS Sportsbook are so low that the most casual fans might be tempted to bet the under. Chicago posted an abysmal 41-121 record last year, but projections from people much smarter than me suggest they’ll do much better.
Why the optimism? Regression to the mean, baby. Teams don’t stay that bad forever. The White Sox have some decent minor-league talent in the pipeline, and, while they’re not ready to compete for a playoff spot, losing only two-thirds of their games feels doable.
IT’S OVER.
IT’S FINALLY OVER.

If the Athletics could bounce back from a 50-win season to hit 69 wins in 2023, why can’t the White Sox hit 53? It’s gross, but sometimes betting is about embracing the ugly.
2. Detroit Tigers: Over 83.5 Wins (-115)
The Tigers were one of the feel-good MLB news stories of 2024, and they’re building something solid in the Motor City. Manager A.J. Hinch continues to work magic with a rotation and bullpen that overachieved last season, and the lineup is stacked with promising young talent like Riley Greene, Colt Keith, and Parker Meadows.
Detroit came up short in the postseason last year, but Jack Flaherty’s signing addresses one of their most significant weaknesses. Flaherty brings a veteran presence to the rotation, and if the younger players continue to develop, this team can hit 84 wins or more.
With a manageable AL Central and a manager who knows how to grind out close games, betting the over is a solid play.
3. Arizona Diamondbacks: Over 85.5 Wins (-125)
The Diamondbacks are ready to strike again. After finishing with 89 wins last year, Arizona is set to flirt with 90 victories again in 2025.
Adding Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes to the rotation is a game-changer, bolstering a staff that already had potential breakout stars. Burnes has been as reliable as they come, throwing over 190 innings each of the last three seasons.

On offense, a rebound year from Corbin Carroll could push Arizona over the top. Carroll, the 2023 Rookie of the Year, underperformed in 2024 but still maintained a solid WAR.
With Josh Naylor replacing Christian Walker at first and an improved bullpen, the Diamondbacks are well-positioned to contend in the wild NL West. The Dodgers may own the division, but Arizona will own its over.
4. Chicago Cubs: Over 86.5 Wins (-125)
Chicago has finished with 83 wins in back-to-back seasons, but its run differential suggests it was better than its record showed. Kyle Tucker, who came over in a massive offseason deal, gives them a bona fide superstar to anchor the lineup.
The supporting cast isn’t too shabby, either. Pete Crow-Armstrong’s stellar second half, Michael Bush’s continued development, and Matt Shaw’s arrival could make this one of the deepest lineups in the National League.
Add a bolstered bullpen headlined by Ryan Pressly, and the Cubs have the firepower to make noise in the Central. Don’t just bet the over, though; consider sprinkling some cash on them to win the division.
5. Athletics: Over 70.5 Wins (-120)
The Athletics are heading to Sacramento, and they’re hoping to give their fans something to cheer about in this first year at a new home. After a brutal three-year stretch, the Athletics turned a corner late in 2024, finishing 39-37 over the final three months. Brent Rooker and Lawrence Butler emerged as one of the most dangerous duos in baseball, posting top-10 wRC+ numbers in the second half.
On the pitching side, Jeffrey Springs adds much-needed depth to the rotation. Plus, the Athletics benefit from regression to the mean and a weaker-than-average AL West outside the Rangers and Astros.
At 70.5 wins, this line feels too low for a team that showed it can compete down the stretch. Sacramento might be a new home, but 2025 should be a solid season for the Athletics.
The beauty of MLB win totals is that they’re not just about MLB betting; they’re about hope. Hope that your team can overachieve. Hope that regression will save the day. And hope that the White Sox don’t suck that badly again.
Whether you’re doing your MLB betting with your heart or your spreadsheet, these five overs are worth a swing.

Question of the Day
What is the new home for the Athletics starting in 2025?
The Athletics will play all 81 of their home games at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, Calif., in 2025, as well as the following two seasons.
