After falling into a slump for a little, the Texas Rangers are starting to break out of it, facing the Cleveland Guardians next. MLB betting lines favor the Rangers, a playoff team, to win over the Guardians, who are not.
This recent stretch for the Rangers has brought them back within half a game of the American League West but solidly in the Wild Card race. The Guardians are eight games back from the AL Central and out of reach from a Wild Card spot.
Jon Gray (8-7, 3.96 ERA) vs Lucas Giolito (7-13, 4.89)
Unlike other starting pitchers for the Rangers this season, Jon Gray has not had a long stint on the Injured List. However, going into his 27th start of the season, it seems like the innings are starting to weigh him down. The Rangers have won Gray’s last three outings, but he has given up at least three runs each. His previous start was by far the worst of three, allowing three runs off four hits and a homer in 2.2 innings.
Lucas Giolito will be starting for the Guardians, and he hasn’t been much better, likely even worse than Gray. In each of the two starts since Giolito signed with the Guardians, he has allowed three home runs, leading to some of the best prop bets on Sept. 15 for the Rangers batters. Giolito gave up nine runs in three innings in his first start for Cleveland. His second start was much better, pitching seven innings, still allowing four runs, but striking out nine.
Rangers Offense Leading the Way
MLB prop bets for the Rangers vs Guardians game have opened up thanks to the hot Texas lineup. The Rangers have scored 44 runs in the last five games, putting up at least six in each. A big part of that has been the long ball, with the Rangers hitting 12 home runs over the last seven days, tied for the most.

Given Giolito’s recent struggles in giving up home runs, one of the Rangers bats is bound to hit one over the wall. It is just figuring out which one. Over the last seven games, Marcus Semien, Robbie Grossman, Jonah Heim, and Corey Seager have all hit at least two homers, leading MLB odds in their favor.
Seager seems to be the best option, given that he is one of the top batters on the Rangers, but also that he took Giolito deep in his only start against the Rangers while with the Los Angeles Angels.

Guardians Loss Last Three Series
The wheels on the Guardians seasons keep coming off quicker and quicker every series. They have lost their last three and are now nine games under .500. Having Giolito on the mound certainly will not help turn things around.
MLB lines are now pretty clear on Clevland missing the playoffs since they fell behind in the AL Central race.
A big reason for the lack of success has been the Guardians’ inability to score runs. They have scored the third-fewest runs over the previous 15 days, 46, coming out to 3.5 per game. Facing the Rangers, who average 5.5 runs per game, immediately puts the Guardians in a difficult position.
Bet Rangers on the Spread
This is a game in which the Rangers have a clear advantage. The offense is coming in hot against the Guardians, who have a struggling pitcher on the mound, giving up home runs left and right in his last two starts. Texas will be able to keep their winning ways going but also cover the MLB spread.
