Battle of the Beltway
While the Washington Nationals’ elimination from the playoffs has been decided already, every game the Baltimore Orioles play is impacting their MLB playoff odds down the stretch.
The Orioles are still in the hunt for a Wild Card spot in the American League but will have to really stack up some wins over the final few weeks of the season.
They have a winnable game on the docket as they prepare to play the Washington Nationals for the fourth and final time this season.
Let’s check the latest MLB picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for Orioles vs Nationals. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions for you to consider.
Orioles’ Wild Card Hopes in Doubt
On Tuesday night, the Baltimore Orioles won the first of an abbreviated two-game series against the Washington Nationals. After falling behind 3-2 early in the game, the Orioles scored two runs in the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead that they never relinquished.
In that fifth inning, Ryan Mountcastle hit a home run off Hunter Harvey to spark what became the game-winning rally. The blast was significant to him given the off-field friendship he has with Harvey.
“It’s probably one of my favorite home runs I’ve ever hit,” Mountcastle said.
Baltimore is currently five games out of the third and final Wild Card spot. As a result, games like this where the Orioles are favored will be crucial down the stretch.
The Orioles have Tyler Wells starting. He is 7-6 with a 3.91 ERA and is the better pitcher in this matchup from a statistical standpoint.
Nats Hope to Split Season Series
The playoffs are no longer a possibility for the Washington Nationals, who have been eliminated from National League contention along with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds.
The Nationals still have not reached 50 wins after losing on Tuesday to the Orioles. On Wednesday night, the Nats will look to play the role of spoiler for the Orioles in the final Beltway Series game of the season.
Patrick Corbin is set to start on the mound for the Nationals and that has not meant good things for them. Corbin is 6-18 with a 6.30 ERA, which is why the MLB lines have the Nationals as an underdog at home.

Orioles vs Nationals Prediction
There are just too many factors working in the favor of the Baltimore Orioles to make MLB picks in any other direction for this game.
With so much on the line for the Orioles and the fact that Corbin is the opposing pitcher, those betting online on baseball would be remiss not to take the Orioles here.
We recommend laying the runline with Baltimore, which should win to keep its faint postseason aspirations afloat.
