Orioles Need Wins
Nobody likes Mondays, but they become a little better when you can watch and bet on MLB while doing so. The Baltimore Orioles travel to Comerica Park to battle the Detroit Tigers in a three-game series.
Baltimore is itching and scratching for a playoff spot, but they have a lot of work to do. The Orioles have a 76-69 record, putting them in fourth place in the best division in baseball, the American League East. With 17 games to go, their eyes are on the Wild Card. They are four games back of the Seattle Mariners for the final spot.
While the Orioles battle for the playoffs, the Tigers are just focused on learning and continuing their rebuild. Detroit has a 55-91 record in the AL Central, which is the worst division in baseball. Perhaps Sunday’s win from the Detroit Lions can spark some much-needed energy for this ball club.
Baltimore Needs to Take Advantage
After losing a tough series against the very good Toronto Blue Jays, the Baltimore Orioles have an opportunity to bounce back against the second-worst team in the AL. When you get opportunities like this, you must capitalize.
Tyler Wells will take the mound for the Orioles. The 28-year-old is 7-6 with a 3.93 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 73 strikeouts through 100.2 innings. In just one start against Detroit this season, Wells has a 6.75 ERA.
It has been a weird season when Wells pitches. The Orioles have had a five-game and four-game losing streak, but also an eight-game winning streak behind Wells.
The Orioles will not blow you away with their offense or pitching, but they always find a way to keep the game close. Baltimore is an incredible 90-55 against the spread in 2022 and 60-31 during games played at night. On the road, their over/under is 29-40-4. They might be the best team in the league against the spread and throwing the Orioles in your MLB picks and parlays is always a safe bet.
Tigers Looking to Play Spoiler
If you are the Detroit Tigers, not a lot is riding on this series other than trying to blow up the playoff chances for the Baltimore Orioles. Over 170 runs separate these two teams in the run differentia. The Tigers will be clear underdogs on the MLB lines at home.
Tyler Alexander will take the rubber for the home team. Alexander has pitched out of the pen and as a starter, holding a 3-10 record. The left-hander has a 5.35 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 41 strikeouts through 77.1 innings.
Alexander is a much better pitcher at home, where opponents hit .257 against him and he has a 3.57 ERA. He has struggled as of late, however, allowing 19 earned runs in his last four starts. The Tigers have only won four out of 23 games in which Alexander has pitched.
Detroit is mediocre when it comes to covering the spread. The Tigers average the fewest runs per game in MLB, which has been a factor in their 67-79 record against the spread. During home games, that number moves to 31-44.
