Yankees, Orioles Meet for Fourth Series
Just over a quarter of the way through the 2022 MLB season, the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles are quite familiar with one another.
Monday will mark the 11th time these teams have met, making up over a fourth of the games each club has played. That said, one team has more momentum than the other, and it’s not who you’d expect.
Let’s check the latest MLB lines, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for Orioles vs Yankees. We’ve plenty of MLB spreads for you to consider.
Orioles Starting to Take Flight
The Baltimore Orioles aren’t going to be a factor in MLB playoff odds anytime soon. But, despite a 17-25 record that places them last in the American League, the Orioles have won three of their last four games, which included a series victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Now, with star prospect Adley Rutschman behind the plate, the O’s have increased expectations for the remainder of the year.
On the whole, the Orioles aren’t an offensive juggernaut. Through 42 games, Baltimore has scored 147 runs, tied for the fifth-fewest in MLB, along with a pedestrian .227 average and .647 OPS.
The Orioles also have a modest 3.88 team ERA and a .252 batting average against, the latter of which is the six-worst in the game.
Veteran righty Jordan Lyles will take the mound for Baltimore on Monday. In his first season in orange and black, Lyles has a 4.11 ERA and 1.39 WHIP. This will be his fourth time facing the New York Yankees in 2022, having given up nine earned runs in 17.0 innings against the Bronx Bombers.
Yankees Hope to Shake Rough Series
Not much has gone wrong for the New York Yankees in 2022. They’ve nearly been a lock to win while making MLB picks, going an MLB-best 29-12. Suddenly, though, the Yankees have lost three of four, including both games of Sunday’s doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox.
They’ll now aim to right the ship against a club that got the better of them in their last meeting.
Even after its recent skid, New York still boasts one of the best offenses in baseball. Entering Monday, the Yankees sit fifth in runs (195), second in homers (57), and third in OPS (.738). But unlike previous seasons, they also have dominant pitching.
New York’s 2.96 ERA is third in MLB and it ranks fourth place for most strikeouts (382) and fewest walks (106).
The Yankees will hand the ball to staff ace Gerrit Cole for Monday’s matchup. The 31-year-old has a 2.89 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 51 punchouts across 43.2 innings. Cole has gone six or more innings in his last five starts, most recently going seven strong against the Orioles.
Orioles vs Yankees Head-to-Head
Rather surprisingly, the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles have already played over half of their scheduled games against one another before Memorial Day. Unsurprisingly, the Yankees have dominated the series, winning seven of 10.
New York has won double-digit games against Baltimore in every 162-game season since 2017, including a 17-2 rout in 2019. The last time the O’s won the season series in was 2016, 10-9.

Orioles vs Yankees Betting Lines
Orioles vs Yankees Prediction
The MLB lines are exactly what you’d expect from the league’s best team hosting its last-place division rival. The New York Yankees are sizable -310 favorites in Monday’s matchup, while the Baltimore Orioles are +250 to pull off the upset.
It never makes sense to bet a moneyline that large for a favorite, so consider something else while betting online. That could mean taking the Yankees at -145 cover 1½ runs. Even then, the profit isn’t tremendous.
For this game, we’re looking at the over 7½ runs. New York has plenty of experience against Lyles and should be able to knock him around. Meanwhile, Cole could still give up three runs or so against a team that’s scored seven or more runs in three of its last four contests.
On what should be a pleasant night in the Bronx, head to the sportsbook to bet on these two clubs putting up some runs.
