Over Bet a Good Call in Close Mariners-Ranger AL West Matchup

The Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers will continue their battle for second – and possibly first place – in the AL West when they begin a three-game series Friday. Both teams sit tied at second in the division, just a half-game behind Houston, and will look to raise their standing with a series win. According to our MLB odds for sept. 22, however, Texas is favored in the series opener.

Mariners vs Rangers Starting Pitchers

Bryce Miller (8-5, 3.88 ERA) vs Dane Dunning (10-6, 3.78)

Bryce Miller will look to build off his last game in which he didn’t give up any runs in 5 ⅓ innings. However, he has struggled on the road, going 3-3 with a 4.58 ERA. He also had trouble in his last game against Texas, allowing seven earned runs and a homer in 2 ⅓ innings.

Dane Dunning is also coming off a performance in which he didn’t allow any runs in five innings, but like Miller, he struggled in his prior two games, giving up 12 earned runs and three home runs in 11 ⅓ innings.

Miller Aims for Better

Bryce Miller will look to help Seattle to its fourth straight win, but his play has been a bit inconsistent.

Despite Miller coming off a good performance, that was at home, and he has struggled more on the road.

In his last two outings on the road, Miller has given up six earned runs over 10 innings, picking up a loss.

Miller also struggled in his last game against Texas, allowing seven runs in 2 ⅓ innings, so bettors may want to remember that when doing their MLB betting online.

Texas Bounces Back

The Rangers got back in the win column and put an end to their four-game losing streak with a stronger offense against the Boston Red Sox.

After averaging two runs a game during its skid, Texas rebounded by combining for 21 total runs to win its last two games.

The Rangers are coming off a 15-run win over Boston in which they hit four home runs, led by Josh Jung and Evan Carter, who each had two-run homers.

With All-Stars Jung and Adolis Garcia recently back after spending time on the injured list, Texas’ offense is returning to form, and it should be a solid MLB bet to take the Rangers in the series opener.

Mariners vs Rangers Best Bet

With neither starting pitcher offering a ton of confidence on the mound, one of MLB’s best bets for the matchup is taking the over on the nine-run total from the sportsbook.

Texas has one of the best offenses in the league, and despite its recent skid, the Rangers should continue their rebound against Miller, who was unable to stop the Rangers in his last start against them.

Dunning hasn’t been the strongest, either. Though Seattle is coming off an easier series against Oakland, averaging six runs a game, it should have another solid day against Dunning.

The Mariners and Rangers hit the over in two of their last three matchups, and with both teams fighting for positioning in the division, they should do so again in the series opener.
