Over Top Pick for Rangers vs Angels, Sept. 25
On Monday, the Texas Rangers head west to Anaheim for a showdown against the American League West rival Los Angeles Angels to kick off a three-game series. While the Angels are eliminated from the playoffs, the Rangers are still fighting the Houston Astros for division supremacy with a slim 2½-game lead heading into the final week of the MLB season.
With Wild Card and division races heating up, this is the best for betting on baseball during the regular season.
Rangers Control Their Future
The Ranges padded their lead over the weekend with a much-needed series win over the Seattle Mariners. But a win on Monday is far from a guarantee with Jon Gray (8-8, 4.22) making a start for Texas. Gray’s season numbers are average, but he’s been a mess lately with an 8.56 ERA in his previous four starts, allowing 13 runs in 13⅔ innings.
If 13⅔ innings doesn’t sound like a lot for four stats, that’s because it isn’t. Only once this month has Gray pitched into the fourth inning despite allowing seven hits, four walks and three runs in that game. The Rangers’ offense has saved him multiple times, and Texas is 2-2 against the MLB spread in Gray’s last four starts despite his struggles.

The Angels will counter with Patrick Sandoval (7-13, 4.19), who hasn’t won a game since the end of August after “leading” the Halos to four straight ATS losses. Sandoval has excellent career numbers against the current Rangers lineup, but in one start this year, Sandoval has a 13.50 ERA against Texas with six walks and five hits over 2⅔ innings of utter failure.
While I have zero trust in either pitcher, the Rangers’ offense has been hot and should not have too much trouble putting up runs against Sandoval. With Gray struggling, the Angels could do some damage of their own and send this game soaring over the MLB odds on a nine-run total.

With a shaky starter on the mound for LA, I am all over Carter to touch a couple of bags on Monday.
