Padres struggling as they enter interleague play
Padres Lost 6-of-9
The San Diego Padres had been hyped as one of the better teams in the league after the trade deadline passed. However, even after the additions of Juan Soto and Brandon Drury and others, a miserable result.
After Wednesday’s failure, they’ve now lost six out of their last nine. They couldn’t even muster a single runs in Thursday’s 7-0 home loss to the Cleveland Guardians,. San Diego’s scored just five runs in their last four.
They now (theoretically) get a bit a reprieve, off to Kansas City to and the 51-75 Royals.

Padres Underperforming Often
The deadline addition of Juan Soto had people expecting this group to go on a run. Instead, the team hitting has been part of what’s short-circuited them.
San Diego has hit 110 home runs this season, ranking 23rd in the bigs. They are also ranked 19th in team batting average at .240.
Righthander Joe Musgrove (8-6, 2.91 ERA) makes his 23rd/appearance this season, 136 strikeouts in 139 innings. Which Musgrove is on the mound? After he started 8-0 for the Padres, he’s 0-6 with four no-decisions in his last 10. He’s hasn’t won a game in two months.
Over the last week, Jake Cronenworth is batting .250, Jurickson Profar .166 and Manny Machado .136. Bats are ice cold on this team, which is why you have to be careful laying juice in the sportsbook.
The unders have been a good bet for this squad recently. Over their last 11 games, the average total between the sides has been six runs per contest.
Bubic As Spoiler?
The Kansas City Royals are far behind in their own divisional race. That doesn’t mean they can’t get in the way of other playoff hopefuls. Lefthander Kris Bubic will be getting the start in this game to try and do exactly that.
Bubic hasn’t had a great season at all, 2-8 with a 5.29 ERA. So, struggling pitcher meets struggling batters.
He’s surrendered 29 hits (nine walks, too) in 21 innings this month.
The San Diego Padres hope that trend gives them some life.

Padres vs Royals Prediction
San Diego’s struggled lately, very inconsistent since the trade deadline and coming off a game where it did nothing offensively.
Against Bubic however, the Padres figure to break the rust off their bats and start letting it fly. That little spark could be all they need. Cautiously lay some money on the Padres with your MLB picks.
